NASIUM, Did you ever find a resolution to situation? I have the same TV and Same problem (sound but no picture). I've only registered with the forum yesterday and started one thread with no response yet.

I know a little anxious, but........?

Re: LG 60PZ550 Plasma - No Sound, No Picture

Following on the LG 60PZ550 Z-sus problems.
My Tv also have stopped working without any noise or sarky sound.
I troubleshooted it and forund out that Vzb terminals on Z-sus board reads 0V.
So I'm in the process of ordering new Z-sus board.
Will try to post new thread when I'm able to (new member)

Re: LG 60PZ550 Plasma - No Sound, No Picture

OK. So the TV is fine now. There was no way I could get a full Z-sus board anywhere. The only remaining option was to check it myself and change the faulty components.
As mentioned on some other posts about 60PZ550 the coils like to heat up on Z-sus and Y-sus. I checked them and the solder on the joints was visibly cracked. After re-soldering them I went on a search for the faulty IGB's as per some suggestions on the web.
My IGBT's were all ok but after very careful inspection I have noticed some discoloring on the resistors by the one of the MOSFET's. After literally checking every existing component on the board (except drivers) I had to change three faulty MOSFET's and two previously mentioned resistors.
Now the board is good as new. All components were bought from China via eBay so I had to wait 2 to 4 weeks for the delivery.
What is best is that all the components (I ordered set of IGBT's, MOSFET's, diodes, and drivers) costed me about $25 including shipping. Now I have a fully functional TV plus some extra spare parts in case something happens at 1/4 cost of the new Z-sus board or pricey repair in the service.

Good news and better still when you can repair it yourself.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Re: LG 60PZ550 Plasma - No Sound, No Picture

All, my 60PZ550 does the same. Turns on but no picture or sound. I worked thru this thread and not finding an issue, apart from one fuse that has different voltage readings on both ends. Seems odd though. 3 ohms. I bridged the fuse, no luck. Any other ideas?

Re: LG 60PZ550 Plasma - No Sound, No Picture

Can someone please verify the proper method to conduct the pattern test? Since this is a common fault with this model of TV, there are several threads on this forum related to this TV and information is strewn about. The TV is for a coworker and I don't want to cause any more damage.
From what I gathered, I need to disconnect the ribbon cable connecting the Control board to the YSUS board. I also need to bridge the solder pads between R51 and R52. Do I need to disconnect the ZSUS or YSUS from the supply board or make any other special connect/disconnects? Do I need to input any special commands into the remote to initiate the test or should it auto-start? Thanks for any help provided.

Re: LG 60PZ550 Plasma - No Sound, No Picture

I forgot to mention this in my previous post, but does anyone have information on the LED located on the Control Board? It appears to have a repeatable pattern of blinks. Not a steady blinking, but 3 short blinks followed by a longer blink(dot-dot-dot-dash). I assume this is an error code, but I can't find any information on it's meaning. Thanks again.

How about stating your symptoms and what methods have you tried so far?

                      Syaoran,
Thank you for your expedient response. Please don't take the rest of this post in offense. I am merely trying to be courteous to other users and respect their time.

The reasoning for not posting symptoms and previous steps is two-fold:
1)There are several threads already relating to this issue and I didn't want to clutter this thread or be told to start a new thread.
2)I am not new to component level troubleshooting, but possess no in-depth knowledge of panel technology and running a pattern test. I therefore did not want to waste more senior users time in a step-by-step troubleshooting and hand-holding posts on how to make measurements, etc... This is not what I am looking for, at least of now.

With that said, I will oblige a more senior user in an effort to not upset you seniors, as I am new.

1)Co-worker said plasma had blue/pink spot in certain areas of screen.
                      2)Confirmed screen issue
3)Research lead me to the multiple threads about the cracked joints on the inductors.
                      4) Pulled ZSUS and YSUS out and indeed had cracked joints.
5)Resolder all cracked joints. Resoldered all joints that appeared dull, disturbed, cold, etc...
6)Reinstalled boards, but TV would come on for a second then shut off. I could hear the relay switching on and off on the supply board.
7)Tried TV with only ZSUS board connected. TV came on but no picture. Measured voltages off supply board to ZSUS. Nominal.
8)Tried TV with YSUS board. TV would come on then shut off.
9)Measured voltage to YSUS from supply board with YSUS board removed. Nominal.
10)Used both DMM and Scope to see if I could observe a transient voltage off the supply board with the YSUS board connected. None.
                      11) Suspected YSUS has shorts. Found several IGBJTs with shorted leads.
12)TV was time sensitive to owner, so he opted to buy new YSUS board.
13)Installed new YSUS board and TV now comes on and stays on. Sound is present, but no picture.

I wanted to make sure the screen wasn't damaged before I invested more time and effort. Hence the post about the pattern test.

                      Thanks again.

So after the pattern test is complete and I have found no visible outcome, where do I go from here? After all of SCCrepair's troubleshooting, we have not been able to figure out the problem still. Please any info that could help would be greatly appreciated.
                        Thanks.

My LG plasma died out without warning the other night while my daughter was watching it. She wasn't standing very close to it at the time, but said she didn't hear anything unusual.

I can turn it on and the power indicator (front panel) responds, the relay clicks once, but there is no sound or picture. I see no change in the screen at any point (no glow). With the rear cover off and the TV 'on', I see a diode (D1) on the Control board flashing two long, then two short, if that helps any. The Va & Vs test points on the Power board (to chassis ground) both look fine to me {Va:55 = 54.9v , Vs:201 = 201.6v}.

Any advice on where to go from here? I've worked with some electronics in the past, but am new to TV's. I'm sure I can take whatever readings are needed, but might need clarification along the way.

That being said, I have what is probably a silly question regarding checking the fuses on my boards. I am not familiar with the way these fuses are mounted to the board. How do you remove them? I'll attach a picture showing what I am seeing.

                          Thank you.
Try looking at this link. First my HDMI inputs went out. Then, the screen and sound went out. The solution in this link worked.
