Do you think the lower buffer's short was the cause of the lines at the bottom of the screen before the screen went dark and can that buffer cause the Ysus to be damaged?

The lower buffer tests bad/short. has continuity. Upper seems fine. Should I order an Y sus board also or wait?
Also can I look around the casing with a strong flashlight (without removing the casing), too see if the screen is cracked along the edge?Leave a comment:

tom66. I really appreciate the help to this point. So I'll test the buffers for shorts.(that video instruction made it simple to understand testing), order those if needed and order a new Y sus board just in case (still worth the cost,if it fixes it or not)
Then I'll repost a conclusion after I've accomplished this.

No change in voltage fluctuation with the upper and lower buffers detached from the Y sus.
While i was back there i tested the VZB contacts on the Z sus its steady at around 108vLeave a comment:

These contact points with these labels were all could find. didn't recognize a specific resistor for either.
I tested those contact points and the voltage for both were jumping 13v down to 1.4v...Leave a comment:

I tested all the Vs and Va at the connectors on the power board that go to the Ysus and Zsus. Results Va 53v

tom66, In the mean time I've tested the 2 fuses on the Y sus.
I noticed you mentioned that in an earlier post.
Top fuse above that copper coil .2v (starts high trickles too....)

Jumpered.
No patterns on the screen. still black/no glow. The THICK CABLE wire you mentioned to disconnect was the wide RIBBON to the A/V board.Leave a comment:

I'm strongly familiar with voltage it's the Ohms that gets me. Not sure what range to put the meter on when testing Ohms or Resistance .Leave a comment:

I've loaded these pictures of the actually TV in case A trained eye can spot an obvious problem (simple solution). I'll keep my fingers crossed

I've had it in bedroom, pitch dark at night. plugged in and playing with an antenna hooked up for a few days now, with a channel playing the volume low. To see if the picture miraculously returns.
no glow while playing and no change in the screen when I turn it on or off. Just a loud click every time you hit the power button coming from the board ( I'm assuming is the power supply) in the back directly in the middle of the TV.Leave a comment:
