    Vizio VU37L HDTV10A Blinking really fast Orange Light

    Hey first post..

    Vizio VU37L HDTV10A

    I had this given to me... it doesn't power on just blinks the moment you plug it in... i checked the fuses and F2 was bad F1 is good so ordered that... but what would cause it? where do i check next that might of caused this? guidance would be really awesome... I have the service manual from this site so.

    Thanks in advance..
    Nicolaus

    p.s. i ordered 10 so i will be trying to just replace fuse to see if that works but i doubt it let me know what you Sparks think

    p.s.s. the attached pic is what i have in front of me...

    changed fuse problem still there... Checked voltages on power supply and it is putting out 2.5 where it should be 5vsb no 24v or 12v... hunted for bad caps and didn't find any that were obvious... then found a burnt resistor and diode that has continuity both directions but the resistor is burnt how do i find out what it is? is there a way?

    Thanks for all the help so far... you guys are really great If you want more info just let me know

      R222 is the 15 Ohm 5% 1/4 W resistor, that is for the start-up running power supply for the 5V STBY, it is burnt may be due to bad SMPS IC for the 5V STBY circuit, it is on the bottom side of the board. How do go about checking the cap, using the ESR meter? Post good clear pictures of the whole bottom side of the board, and then in small section for me to be able to trace out the connections.

        Resistor looks green brown black gold to me = 51 ohms. If it is only that burned, it is probably still measurable with only minor error.

          It is brown , green ,and black if you look at pic #1. It is connected to the Cathode of D206 to supply the VCC for the SMPS IC.

            i threw a resistor i had on hand that was close to what i thought it was.. :/ still learning... so photo of Burnt resistor is what i need to replace... sorry about the confusion...

            i don't have a ESR meter... so i just was looking for leaks and pops.. is there another way to check caps without ESR meter? i have multimeter just haven't needed ESR yet

            Checked burnt resistor reading was 1300 ohms -/+ 20
            Thanks for the help guys/gals

              OK, board not connected to power, use the Ohm meter and check the resistance right at the two legs (both directions of the probes) of Electrolytics caps C206, C208. We also need the P/N of the 5Vstby SMPS IC201.

                C206 = 572 ohm - reversed = 0
                C208 = 617 ohm - reversed = 0

                IC201 = PBLW 23006

                  Sch, you need to measure the DC voltages right at those two cap's legs C206, 208 with the board plugged in, just do not touch anything with your hands. that IC number does not look right.

                    checked voltage and it was 8ish on both... then i plugged in other boards and it works now...?? could it be that easy? 2 components?

                      8V is very low for Vcc, it may work but it could stop working any time. Ideal reading is 11V or more. Depends on the device, though.

                        Did you put in 15 Ohms resistor for the R222? Take the DC voltage reading on the both legs of the resistor so we can see how much current the circuit is drawing. another thing to do too is to remove that 15 Ohms resistor and see if you are still getting the 8VDC on those caps. Please also check the two transistor and the Zener diode as shown in my drawing.

                          I just bought a new powersupply.. since i wasn't sure if the resistor was correct so.. sold it... and bought a P50HDM for 50... starting another thread... not liking what i am finding out about this model...
