      Yes or Not Connected.
Those voltages change when you press power button?

You're not the only one looking for such data. TV/monitor manufacturers do not make such information available. They want you to buy overpriced replacement boards or, better yet, to buy another TV/monitor. No board-level repairs are allowed.

For example, I have the service manual for my Hitachi 55" plasma TV and the only schematics, PCB diagrams and board-level parts lists it provides are for the main & input boards. There's a general block diagram, interconnect diagram only for the main, input & power boards. Logic, sustain, power & buffer boards are an information black hole shown as the "panel". Hitachi didn't even provide troubleshooting info other than basic image alignment & waveform data.

        Good riddance to Hitachi.

i think thats what pisses me off the most is that they don't give out any info so that makes me wanna troubleshoot it even more because i wanna prove a point to myself and that they are a-holes for doing that just to make a few more dollars by making everyone buy a new board etc. instead of being able to fix what is probably a simple problem! well tom has been trying to help me troubleshoot it and if he had it he probably would be watching it by now! lol
i would never buy a pioneer tv if they were still making them just for the fact of how they do things! like installing a "trap switch" really? come on now is that really needed? i guess not cause other companys don't have them except 1 that tom named before has a light or something to that affect for when you open the back! ok i'm done venting!kiss my to pioneer!

i think those voltages are correct but i'm not sure. i'm still not sure why i don't read 390v over the 2 450v caps but i don't know how to troubleshoot the pfc and i can't find a schematic to go by. any help?

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?

if its the input ( voltage on the bulk input caps ), follow EVERYTHING back from the mains input.

Movs, fuses, shorted bridge diodes, bulk caps

after all that check boost transformer, boost trannys, replace boost controller as a mattar of course.

It could be though the DC voltage on the boost caps is too high for your meter and will go 0L

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?

I know this is an older thread but I don't have my new member privileges yet so I have to start somewhere. PDP-5070PU plasma TV took out the main board to fix the ant A port that broke off. Upon reassembling the unit I mistakenly turned the TV on with the back cover off putting the TV in the limp mode or trap mode. I found the pdf service manual that lists the way to get to service mode If a circuit failure will not permit the unit to remain powered-on long enough to complete the above procedure, clear the Trap Switch as followsYou will not be able to see the menus.)
                      1. Turn off Main Power Switch on Panel or unplug panel.
ForG-6 &G-7,Short connections located on upper
right corner of digital video board.
                      2. Place Main Power back on.
                      • Confirm both Media Receiver and Panel are in standby mode (unit that is
trapped will still have both red and green LEDs lit)
                      3. Press the “display” button then release the “display”
                      button.
                      • Wait 5 full seconds(this is a timed sequence!)
                      4. Press and release the “<”, “^”, “<”, “>”, and “power” buttons in sequence(quickly)
                      • Listen to panel carefully. There will be a very slight relay click.
Panel will now turn on in “service mode” with only the low
                      voltage supplies operating. (no picture)
                      5. Press “muting” button 3, 4, or 5 times depending on the model you are
                      working on
                      6. Press and hold the “display” button until the error indicator (red LED) on
either the panel or the media receiver goes out.
                      7. Turn soft power off, then main power off or unplug unit.
                      • Wait 20 seconds
                      8. Return switch on Digital Assembly to Normal position or remove shorting clip.
                      9. Power back on and troubleshoot normally.

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?

Short connections located on upper right corner of digital video board. I know one connection is ate the very end of the digital board where it attaches to the plastic piece that holds it into place inside the tv but what's the other part that I have to short it to?
On the picture in the pdf it sais: Short the two adjacent electrodes on the surface by a method which assures continuity, such as using a crocodile clip.
                        1. Make shorting between the specified location (refer to the illustration below) of the PCB surface of the 50 DIGITAL ASSY and the nearby pattern.
The only pattern I see are some small parallel contacts right next to the end. Here's the pdf address :
page 22 is the picture showing the short location and page 18 is the procedure.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

In case you're wondering why I am choosing this method I have to say that the original remote for this TV has issues with the power button I used to turn TV on from the side panel so to do the Trap Switch Reset Procedure I would need the power button.

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?

I know this is an old thread but i'm trying to do the following step:

Depending on which model you are working on, place switch on Digital
Assembly from "Normal" to "Off" or use a clip to short the high
voltage. Shorting connections located on upper right corner of
digital video board. (preventing high voltages from activating)

I don't have a switch on Digital Assembly on my 507PU. The alternative is to short the connection located on the upper right corner of the digital video board.

I don't know what a digital video board is so I don't even know where to start looking for the area where I need to short the circuit. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
