ok when i got the tv the standby (red light) and power (blue light) were on constantly i haven't dealt with a plasma before so i'm new to them. i read that it goes into "trap mode" when the back panel is off and it is powered on which causes the "trap mode" so the person who had it or someone else had it off with it powered on before disabling the "trap" i also knew they had it off because they didn't replace all the screws and some were installed improperly but anyways. i have the remote and used it to get to "service mode" but it won't show the "initializing page" for me to complete the process. the screen lights up a little then shuts off before i can get to the "initializing page" which is about 10 seconds i tried it several times to no avail. i read that means that the main board is bad. so how can i troubleshoot the main board to find out the problem and to fix it or is it fixable? here are some pics of all the boards i will get better pics if needed. it is an older plasma made in 2006 and the model on the chassis is PDU-PC50X07 it has very little usage on it. thanks in advance for any help given!

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
i checked all the voltages going to the y and x drive assembly and to the main video board and the hd digital assembly and they all read the right voltages printed on the board. when i reset the trip mode the red light on the main video board is on but it still won't power the tv on and i don't get any blinking error codes either. any help please? -
Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
but if i unplug the tv and plug it back in and the "trap switch" is taped up so it won't put the tv in "lock mode" when i plug the tv back in then i have to reset the "lock mode" or the red light on the main video board won't come on and stay on.Comment

When you reset the trap switch do you get any screen glow, or is the screen not lit at all? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
when i reset it it glows for about 10 seconds then the relay clicks and then stops glowing. now i'm having trouble getting it out of "lock mode" i'll get it but it's just a little trickyComment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
when i reset it the red light on the main board goes out while the tv is on i can see what looks like maybe the service screen very faintly but i can't do anything and it shuts off then the red light on the main board stays on. is it suppose to stay on or be out and it doesn't throw any codes. i can keep trying to reset it but the same thing happens and when i unplug it and plug it back in then the light is out on the main board until i do a reset then it stays on after the tv shuts off.Comment

yeah do you want me to try and run it through a tv or laptop etc.? and see if it works that way?Comment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
the fan isn't working either it did for a little bit one time i don't know if that is also part of the problem but that is attached to the main video boardComment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
i don't get it. if i reset the tv the fan won't come on but if i take the plug for the "trap switch" out and jumper the wires together the fan starts up but if i have the jumper there and reset it he fan won't come on when it should?Comment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
Try entering service mode? I think it involves holding the INPUT or MENU key while you power the set up. It's possible that it has an existing fault that hasn't been cleared. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
i thought that was what i was doing when i hit the display then left,up,left, right, then power and it turns off the red light on the main video board and the screen come on very faint and i can't tell what it says then the glow from the screen shuts off after i hear a relay clickComment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
if i disconnected the x drive board and tried to enter service mode the blue power button went off and i got 11 blinking red lights then a pause and 11 more continued. and when i only had the y drive board disconnected i got a 3 red blink error without a blue power light.what can i do? and on the x drive board it has a connector for a + 60v and when i measure it i only get .9 volts? at all the other connection i get what the board reads any help?Comment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
Does power supply produce a Vd of 60V or closer to 70V? Perhaps missing Vd is triggering shut down. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
vd? and pin 3 from the power supply to the main board is suppose to be a N.C. (relay) that reads 3.5v but i get 0v when i checked it or is it suppose to be normally closed? i am tired been up all night trying to figure it out. i get only .9v at the power supply connector too when i am suppose to get 60v. here is the complete manual i have to figure out why i'm not getting the right voltage.Comment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
i just reset it and when it tried to go into service mode i checked the voltage and it got approx. 40volts but then i kept dropping until it is now around .9volts and doesn't seem to go any lower than that.Comment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
Vd may be called Vad, Vda or Va on this panel. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
u mean vadr? which is suppose to be 60v on the power supply? there are 2 pins that are suppose to read 60v going to the x main and 2 pins going to the y drive they all read .9 volts and were higher but were gradually dropping like noted in my previous post that was what i was checking and it was dropping but won't go any lower than around .9 voltsComment

Re: Pioneer Plasma Model# PDP-5070PU main board bad?
Yes, maybe Vadr. Check Vadr on power supply, is it stable? How long does it stay? Then check Vadr on X-main.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by pixelcapHello out there in Badcap land.
I have a Pioneer plasma that gave me the dreaded 8 red blink and shutdown, I have been trying to trace the failure points. On my last inspection while replacing a Y Sustain Board I noticed on the original and replacement board some missing solder, the points of connection
are from the Digital Address Board and the Buffer Boards. I have included the pictures, should I resolder these points or are they unsoldered intentionally? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

by alltvrepairsHi,
I have this almost brand new Plasma was well stored. I would like to repair it for a friend of mine.
I have noticed that it works for few seconds then switches Off the Power_ On signal. Have disconnected boards and left maion board and power supply and still the same. The power supply with PS_ON and VA signals On stays on so it is not a problem in the power supply.
Any one met this problem in the past?...10-08-2025, 07:34 AM -
by cheeky2I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection... -
by bcstedtJust starting to crack into this one and wanted to get the ball rolling.
At power on (plug in), power light on, relays click, repeat (sometimes)
After disconnecting Y-Main from SMPS power stays on and boot up jingle is heard from speakers
Removed Y-Main for inspection and testing
