My bro has a 37inch vizio Model #E371VL. When you turn the tv on there is no picture just a black screen. It does still has sound so i took the back off and did not see any bulging caps. So now im at a stand still i have no idea what the issue is. I have read that it might be the inverter board but i would like to have a second opinion Any help would be nice thanks in advance.

Re: 37 inch vizio Model #E371VL no picture but has sound
Can you post post some pictures of the board layout for us as well as a close-up of each board on the back for everyone to look at. Also, when the sound is playing try shining a flashlight on the front and see if you can see the image at all. If you have an inverter issue you'll be able to make out the image regardless of the backlighting. -

Re: 37 inch vizio Model #E371VL no picture but has sound
If I had to take a guess out of the blue based on your description and the fact that you have sound, I'd say it could be your tcon board which is not very expensive to replace. However, based on my experience with Vizio TVs it could also be the control board. I've personally never had one that would produce sound though without video.
Get the pictures up and do the flashlight trick and we'll go from there. I assume you are also able to swap video inputs on it and the volume responds to the remote and buttons on the set?Comment

If you look at the back of the chassis, do you see glowing lights through the holes on the back of the panel? We need to find out if you have backlights or not.Never stop learning

by ggil44Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

by MgiffuneI have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.
I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and... -
by jchangHi all
I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.
Symptom:
No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
No sound at all.
What I tried:
1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon... -
by afexhello, I have a Vizio E371VL - the orange Vizio logo lights up while not powered on, changes to bright white when power button pressed but there is no picture.
There is no backlight, and I've done the flashlight test and cannot see any picture. The TV also will not power off using the button or the remote - I have to unplug the power cable to shut it down. The white light never fades out until unplugged. Its almost like its stuck in the powering up phase or something.
I bought a replacement mainboard and replacement power board. Neither have fixed the issue. It still... - Loading...
