    Baird x32dtv

hi just picked one of these up from my local freecycle site the problem is the psu has had a major short on and blown some surface mount ics and some surface mount resistors and others surface mount capacitors so a lot of parts to replace as main fuse also shattered so probably bridge rectifier as well so i really need another psu the part number on it are
    PHIHONG
    MODEL PSM210-417A-R
    OUTPUT VOLTAGES ARE
    5.VOLT 0.8 AMP
    12V. VOLT 3 AMP
16.5 VOLT 2 AMP (SEEMS ODD AS WHEN I FOLLOW THE WIRE BACK TO THE MAIN BOARD ITS GOT 12.VOLT STAMPED ON THE CONNECTOR (DOES VADJ)
    24 VOLT 6 AMP

i have found one in china thats about £40.00 just wondered if any one had a link to the universal lcd psus i may then be able to modify to fit.

Unfortunately the 16.5V, for the audio, is going to be difficult to retro-fit.

There is a chance you can take, say, a Vestel 17PW20, and feed the audio with 12V. This will mean that the audio output won't be able to go as loud as it used to, and it will probably distort near the maximum output.

thanks tom i understand what your saying it seems funny the connector has 16.5 volts stamped on the psu unit says on connector vadj 2pis and ground the other 2 pins but follow the wire to the main board it says vadj 2 pins 12 v 2 pins ground this is the sort of thing i was thinking of? http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/69...er_Supply.html

I don't know if I'd trust that... looks pretty poor build quality

any idea tom what size the board your thinking of in size as these are small 7 inch by 5 and a quarter cheers as there is not much room inside these sets do you know if these are freeview? also if its to old i may just part it out pity though as has stand and remote as well reasonable condition but cant see resale being much.

tom is there a psu diagram about for the original psu? to see whats blown as a small ic has blown the top of unreadable

looks like i can use 12 volt instead of 16.5

I don't know, only solution may be to repair it. No schematic as far as I can tell. If you can find the part # of the burnt IC, then it is probably that + PFC FET + 450V capacitor. (Bad 450V capacitor will cause PFC FET and IC to burn.)

reading that link i can use one of these with a small mod to connectors just cant seem to find dc output specs of it?

just removed the cover the fuse is gone ic 101 is blown any idea what a 7503 surface mount is looks like a large resistor got 2 by the blown ic cant get a reading at all.
edit!!!! you was spot on tom was the large 450v cap reads 00000 on my cap meter no uf reading at all and yes did test a good cap to make sure meter was ok.
tom can you tell me how to test and what meter settings to test this ic P1014AP06 standby ic? just want to check if possible its ok before i order the blown ic and capacitor.

Can you provide a picture of the bottom of the board?
Standby IC -- check between Vcc and GND of IC, look at datasheet for pin diagram.

will get a picture soon as i can measured from vcc and gnd of ic no reading tried 200 ohm 2k and 200k does this seem ok?

looks like q102 20N60C3 maybe faulty short circuit on 2 legs leads tested both ways

tom can you look at my edit please shot circuit both ways pins 2/3 and the 3/2 on diode test it has a insulation washer on the heatsink on this ic.

Also check DRAIN to GND, and DRAIN to VCC on it.

on ohms reading tom no reading at all on both your tests so this should be ok?

what do you think of these readings? looks like q102 20N60C3 maybe faulty short circuit on 2 legs leads tested both ways pins 2/3 and the 3/2 on diode test it has a insulation washer on the heatsink on this ic. data sheet in post 10 cheers tom. the last thing i am not sure is what a 7503 is its like a small rectangular resistor 2 of them by the ic thats blown cant seem to get a reading from them.

When you get a picture of the area, I can figure out the problems.

It seems unlikely that a 32" LCD TV would use a 45A IGBT. That is something you would put in an industrial motor drive or 1000W+ power supply. Are you sure about the part #?
