    Yes, I would eBay the boards, except the original main board of course. I think you could probably make up the cost. Sucks -- this is the risk of buying faulty TVs! People LIE. And that's really annoying.
    I've only had I think three dodgy TVs (two LCD cracked, one plasma with vertical bar) out of over 50 TVs, though.

      Thanks again for EVERYTHING! I'll find another project, however, I'll try and be more selective. perhaps look for samsungs or panasonics only.

        Since this TV used a Samsung panel, the exact same thing can happen to a Samsung TV. It's unfortunately a bad design that many LED TVs suffer from.
