a couple of observations. looking more closely at the circuit board, it appears that the tab of the smd is also connected to TP8, which on the back of the board says 3.3V stdby. would this smd be providing the 3.3v stdby? also, near the smd is a 8 pin device labeled U10. could this device be faulty. it's almost impossible to read any markings on the device.
I may attempt Budm's way of trying to find the shorted device. the trace is almost impossible to track between devices. it's not obvious where the trace is going from device to device.
a schematic would invaluable right now. do you think I should open another post looking for a schematic for the main board or the tv set?
