    Samsung HP-S4253 - 5 seconds to black

After searching for over an hour on this forum, I discovered a member with the exact same problem as me.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...light=hp-s4253

I also learned that fixing the problem is far beyond my knowledge, so I almost decided not to post. However, here it is...

A while back I had a no-picture/clicking problem with a Samsung HPT4254 that I pulled out the power board, sent it to a guy in Washington, and one week and $65 dollars later I had a working set again.

Now my friend's Samsung HP-S4253 goes on for about 5 seconds, then fades to black. I've read the other thread with the same problem, but the guy never fully discovered what the problem was or how to fix it. I was hoping the problem was as widespread as the one on my Samsung HPT4254 whereby everyone knew the trouble lay in the power board.

Interestingly enough, if I turn the set on and immediately start cycling through all the inputs, the screen does not fade to black until I stop.

If anyone has any idea on this, please share. I would be very grateful.

    Thank You

If you go to a "no signal" screen, does it ever fade out? Or only on scenes with actual pictures on them?

There are a couple repair kits for this TV that address the symptoms you describe. You'll have to determine through testing which kit, if any, is useful:

It fades out no matter what input is selected, whether there is a signal or not.

By fade out, do you mean a sudden loss of picture, or does it visibly reduce in brightness as it goes?

First of all, sorry for such a late response. I've been super busy lately.

By fade out, I mean that the image does NOT just switch off, but rather it takes about half a second from full image to completely black. There is still audio, but not image at all.

In order to narrow it down to just the tv set, I disconnected all other components (cable box, game box, dvd, antenna, etc.) and switched the set on. I quickly brought up the setup menu and it showed for about one second before it quickly faded to black as well.

Attached are images of the boards inside. I don't know which one is the power supply board.

Samsung UN40H5003 boot loop every ~8 seconds
                by eigma
Hi, I rescued a Samsung UN40H5003AF (H = 2014 FHD) from the curb. Symptoms are: standby (red) light comes on, stays on for 8 seconds, flickers off, then comes back on, and the cycle continues.

                Service manual: https://www.electronica-pt.com/esque...is-u8la-71272/

SMPS board: checked voltages, all seem normal (A13V = 12.8V, UD = 3.3V, PWM_BLU = 0.77V, PS_OnOff = 5.5V). Remove 10p cable to main board -> backlight comes on. I think this means SMPS board and backlight are good.

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and
