If I place the LVDS cable in it's "normal" place, I have only backlight on, no image at all.

That's probably not the right place then...

This is what I don't understand, the connector/cable could have a bad connection?

Due to how the LVDS is transmitted over that cable that is unlikely.

So, I should I try a T-con? That is cheaper.

This one looks almost(if not the same) as my problem and it looks like a T-con fixed it.

I have my un46d6420ufxza disassembled. What do I have to do to view the tab edge connectors on the led screen? Do i need to remove the black tape around the edge of the screen? What else after that?

I have LA40D550 with same issue as OP, horizontal lines/ghosting is flickering in top 2/3 of screen only. Replace T-CON, issue persists. Caps look and measure capacitance fine. Next step is to check ripple on PSU rails with CRO, possibly check ESR of caps (if I can find/build ESR meter) or more likely check bonding of tabs like https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...LN52A530P1FXZA

Any luck? I have the same issue with Vizio M501D and will be replacing the T-Con later this week.

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
                        by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

                        by Ihandyrepair
                        Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

I just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.

I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying...

                        by blaster_
Less than a year out of warranty, samsung UE49MU6105K craps out, they've got this designed obsolescence down to an exact science of self destruct when out of warranty...

Screen started to show horizontal lines and ghosted image at the bottom, then turned off by itself. Did software update, to no avail of the line problem, and got a boot loop after some minutes of watching TV. This boot loop will turn on the backlights for some seconds the sound comes on, the image will turn dark very fast and then it reboots again. Pressing power button will not put it on standby. Disconnecting...

Hello to everyone. I tried the tape method to by pass the on and off problem for the Samsung tv I mentioned. But unfortunately lines starts to appear. My question is if someone knows how to fix the lines problem...
