Who made the plasma panel in this set? Order boards from that. They may be marked as Philips boards, but they are most likely made by Samsung.

What brand should I buy ? Samsung or Phillips ?

The Original in the TV now, is Samsung but when I bought the Sound Card last year, I got Phillips - which is working well.

Logic states to go with Philips vs the Samsung Brand that failed.

Is there a difference ? Do you have preferences in these brands ?

The X-main fails on these sets fairly often. When it fails, the gas in the panel doesn't fully discharge -- it almost looks as if the panel is broken, but it isn't. The gas isn't completely even, so some parts discharge and others don't when the X-main isn't providing enough energy for the panel to fully discharge. If the panel were broken, you'd see no image at all and instead hear a loud buzzing sound from the glass.

As far as repairs go, I'd highly suggest you replace the X-main first. The Y-buffers can be replaced after replacing the X-main if distortion is still an issue.

    Philips 42" Plasma - Model 42PF7320A

You guys seem to be doing some great work on this site. Keep it up.

I just need some Good Advice on how to proceed with Properly Identifying the problems associated with this Plasma TV.

I have little experience with these matters and no equipment to test, sorry.
I opened it up looked at the Boards and none of them look like they are burned / no smell either.

There was some work done to this TV last year.
I changed the sound board - due to the loss of audio and
A local tech fixed a power issue by soldering some caps and putting in some heat sinks - to help with the overheating. That was another cost by itself.

    tomm66, said :
"Yes - bad X-main, replace the X-main. Post a thread if you need more help." and
"Looking at the picture, it also looks like the Y-buffer may be bad, but the X-main is causing the discolouring too."

based on his evaluation of the photo, I am prepared to purchase these boards and replace them myself.
I am thinking this however, seeing that I am already in there - shouldn't I change out all the other boards too. I don't want to go back in there in a hurry

I have all the numbers for the following boards :

    Y-buffer lower -
    Y-buffer upper
    X-Main
    Y-Main

From reading other posts, changing one board alone might not do the trick and seeing that I have to send to the USA to get these parts - maybe I can save some time and money while at it.

I was alarmed when I saw the thick Black horizontal bar - thought it was the screen that failed. Why is it in 2 parts and not one continuous solid line ?
How will I know when the screen fails ?

My final question is : Are there any other issues that I might have to consider in completing the repair of this TV ?

    Thanks in advance.

Philips 32PFL4901/F8 BA4GF0F0102 2 Not getting standby led
    by alro7779
    Hello, guys!

The same 32" Philips TV I was having video issues, but now I don't have standby led at all. Someone here shared with me the schematic of the power supply, and checking the voltages, I see right after the resistor R604 I'm getting 1.6 v which is too low for enabling the Gate of the Q601 mosfet (the diagram says 4.2). On the R614 resistor I'm getting 181 V in and 117 V out, then through R603 I'm getting the same 117 V in and 59.9 V out, finally getting the latter voltage in the R604 BUT getting just 1.6 V out, which is the voltage that goes on to the Gate of the Q601...

Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo
    by G33RT
Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo, it does not reboot it just stays on the logo.

It does power up when pressing the power button.

I already try the power button while plugin the plug with no result.
Also put the latest firmware autorun-TPM191E_R.001.004.100.000.upg on a MBR/FAT32 USB stick at USB port2 with no result either.

Could this be an PSU or eMMC issue ?

Philips curling iron - is this a common AC cable?
    by double_DD
    Hi all,

Wife has 2 Philips hair curling irons half defective - after learning how they're supposed to work and testing them, it turned out that both have defective power cables, and both on the same place; broken wires due to wire bending.
As they were both relatively easy to disassemble, and cables are plugged not soldered (as they can rotate in the handle), I was sure it would be easy to find replacements. But - NO! I'm unable to find anything similar on ebay or Aliexpress.

Not sure if this is something Philips proprietary, or a standard, but the cable plug...

    Philips 47PFS7509/12 LCD TV problem
    by janos6662000
    Hi

I have here a Philips 47PFS7509/12 LCD TV which came to me with a weird problem : without signal i could access menu, make a factory reset, access menus, etc.
When i applied cable signal to check image, i had normal picture, but TV was restarting.
I downloaded original firmware and applied the update, but the problem remained.
From a colleague i received a "factory package software" which is a lot bigger.
I made another firmware update, but still did not solve the problem.
Somewhere on the way the error got worse, because at the moment the...
