    Sceptre X37SV-KOMODO bad repair

We receive this TV for recycle today, we were told that the TV was repair by DIY but could not get it to work, the Blue power LED is still blinking.
I open it up to see what is needed to be done to fix it.
The one cap in the 24vdc power supply was replaced by 3 general purpose 85c caps in parallel (470 + 100 + 100).
I put in 1000uF 25V Panasonic FM in its place, the TV starts right up, then I wne ahead and replace the set of caps.

sad that they didnt bother to spend the 2$ for a decent cap after they spent the time to dismantle the tv. Good for you though

Does demonstrate why general purpose caps are -not- suitable, even temporarily.

Wait, the ghetto 'cap' was where that blank spot for a capacitor is? Do you think the original was a rubycon? There are two other rubycons near that blank spot.

The blank spot was where I removed that DIY cap from. The TV is now going to be donated to the senior center.

I know this post is old, but the behavior described is similar to my issue. It isn't clear where the 1000uF 25V Panasonic FM belongs on the power board as there is no before/after. I am not sure if it is my issue, but I want to be sure of what I am looking for before I open up the tv. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

                  Sceptre 48" TV backlight LED`s
                  by spirittoo
Trying to fix a backlight problem with a Sceptre 48" TV.

I found replacement strips with the same part number as the strips in the Sceptre, but the new backlight strips have 5 leds per strip and the ones in the tv has 6.

So I decided to replace the leds instead. I found 3 bad ones. I had no problem removing the bad ones with a heat gun, they came right out. However the leds on the replacement strip would not come out with heat. I use my solder iron as well, they will not come off.

Anyone know how I can remove those leds without damaging them?

Sceptre X505BV, blue LED, no display
                  by tom_h
                  Hello all,

I have a Sceptre X505BV-FMDR8HJ1PE8 tv that had been gradually over time taking longer
and longer to come on, now it will no longer display any image. Original symptoms
are the red standby LED would turn to blue immediately when pressing the power on
button, but there would be a delay for the "SCEPTRE" image to appear on the screen
and backlight to come on. The delay kept getting longer, then it would go from blue
LED back to red. Then when I pressed the power on button again it would bring the
                  display up and work fine....

                  MOSFET PURPOSE
                  by irfan karatela
I'm looking at the PS5 motherboard, and have come across 2 mosfets, I want to understand the purpose of the 2nd mosfet as the source is connected to GND and the drain is connected to 5v. wouldn't this short the 5v rail once the 2nd mosfets gate is enabled?

                  Thanks...

Air Con PCB repair : some general question
                  by dicky96
                  Hi guys
I've been getting more air con controller boards of various brands for repair - mainly the ones from the outdoor compressor unit and I realise I have a lot of gaps in my specific knowledge, while being pretty good at electronic repair in general.

Does anyone know of any good resources for information on this sort of repair? I'm hoping here there will be some guys who are experienced in this. I'd specifically like more info on how the controller PCB works, because I expect they are all pretty much the same, and especially how it communicates with the indoor unit (protocols,...
