My fault, if pin 5 is the lone pin on that side then I was mistaken on the pin labels on that side of the chip.

    Pin 1 = 166V
    Pin 5 = 0V
    Pin 7 = 166V
    Pin 8 = 166V

It's still dead, Jim(John). Replace it and any resistor connected to pin 7/8 as it looks like they may have failed open too.

Found a PSU on eBay for $45. I figured it was worth it to not have to spend the time fixing the old one. Looks like I didn't need the main board after all.

The IC was only a few bucks but it depends on how many other components were damaged, good job fixing it. How's the picture on this LED-LCD compare to a good plasma? Sharp LED-LCD are supposed to be the market leaders.

That was my concern. There's a chance that not many other comonents got zapped, but there's a chance that several other components, including those tiny little surface mount ones, got zapped. There's also a chance that something else would go out shortly after getting the old one working again. I figured for the money, it was worth it to not have to deal with it.

I've only played one movie through it via the Netflix app but it seems to be pretty nice.

Well, I held onto this one, not sure if I should keep it or sell it. I made the mistake of never checking the HDMI inputs. I had it in the basement and watched several movies via Netflix, A/V, and USB. I finally listed it for sale and sold it Sunday, just to have it come back yesterday because none of the four HDMI inputs worked. It looks like I need to replace the main board but I'm open to any other suggestions.

That would seem likely to me. Surge damage is nasty. If you can source the HDMI multiplexer, you may be able to get away with replacing only that, though it is not an easy job.

Tom, I bought another main board and it didn't work. 1-1, lamp error code. The seller refunded my money and let me keep the board. Do you think it's possible to remove the HDMI chip(s) and swap them?

Yes, but it will be a very difficult job. There -must- be a way to reset lamp error. Have you tried locating eeproms? Those are a lot easier to swap between boards, little 8 pin SMD things. 24Cxxx (xxx=16,256,etc...) marking typically. They probably hold the "there is a lamp error" fault.

You may as well do both.
Just make SURE not to get them the wrong way around.

IC8455 is an 8 pin EEPROM I swapped it and still have the 1-1 code.

The other is a 48 pin. I'm not really sure I have the skill to do a 48 pin IC

That's a flash memory, probably won't be storing the 1-1 code. No other 8 pin EEPROMs?

It may be a good idea to invest in an EEPROM programmer for other repairs. I built one myself using a PICKit2 from Microchip.

I was watching TV when there was a huge lighting strike nearby my house that shook the house. When that happened, the picture on the TV froze and the TV wouldn't turn off except by pulling the power cable. Now if you plug in the TV, it seems to turn on (it makes the turn on "clikcs" it always does, the red power light comes on but there is no picture, although I can see the back light around the edges. And the TV doesn't respond to the power button on the remote to turn off, and doesn't respond to the manual power button on the front...

We had a lightning strike a few days ago really close to my house. My Samsung UN60EH6000 was on when it hit. Afterwards, the TV would not come back on.

I had repaired this TV a few years back by replacing the T-Con board. (The post I had on this is repair is here.)

When I turn on the TV, I don't get any start-up melody. The screen just dimly flickers around the edges.

Here is what I have checked.
On the power supply board, 14pin connector:
                                            1 :12.7 Vdc
                                            3 :12.7
                                            5 :12.7
                                            7 :12.7
                                            9 :0
                                            11 :5.
                                            13 :5....

advices for repairing Sony Bravia 32EX600 after lightning strike

                                            hi everyone,
my parents in law have seen their Bravia Sony LED 32EX600 TV set stop after a lightning strike. After being plugged to mains, it shows nothing no power LED on bottom left shines.
On the power PCB (GE3b, attached pic), I chacked the fuses and the only roasted one is R6536 : 0.47 ohms, 1/2W. After replacing it, I made some voltage measurement with ref to the chassis :
                                            - the 450V/150uF capacitor voltage when plugged is normal at 394V
                                            - from connector CN6150 (15 poles)
STBY normal 3.3V -> I shunted it to 3 (POWER ON) and 11 (BL ON) and unplugged...

ElectroVoice ETX-18SP (powered Subwoofer) damaged after lightning strike

                                            Hello Everyone.
This powerful amplified subwoofer doesn't make any sound after lightning striked near the house were it was plugged in.
                                            It consists in :
                                            • a power board were the full H bridge class D amplifier and main power rails are located
                                            • a preamp board (ref. F.01U.299.771) receiving 2 symetrical inputs(IN1, IN2), a digital chain (A-D converter -> Digital Signal Processor -> D-A converter) and a micro controler in charge (at least) of the human interface (lcd display and 1 rotating button)
                                            Power rails are ok.
                                            human interface is working fine
                                            Input levels are...
