    Vizio VO47L

I am looking at a TV for a friend of mine. I can usually find and replace bad caps, but as far as I can tell, there arn't any bad caps.

When I plug the TV in, the organge vizio light glows orange. Pressing the power button doesn't change anything. It just stays in this standby position.

Beyound replacing caps, I'm a tad clueless with TV repairs, any help would be great =)

I also have an imgur album with a few pics from the two boards.

    Re: Vizio VO47L

Sounds like you have 5V on the standby at least. Based on my Vizio experience the last few months I'm pretty certain its going to be the main board. To test this, you can unplug the wires going from the power supply to the main. Carefully jump a wire from the 5V standby pin on the supply to the PS-ON and BL-ON pins. Plug it in and see if the power supply starts up and illuminates the backlight. If so, I'd say you've pretty much narrowed it down to the main for sure.

Vizio D50u-D1 Dead Set No Standby
      by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

Vizio E550i-A0 no power, no standby light
      by x_orange90_x
I have a Vizio E550i-A0 that will not power on. It also does not display the standby light in the corner. I disconnected the main board cable to see if the backlights would light but they did not (maybe this is normal for this set?). I checked the voltages on the plug and they all read in mV or 0, so there's no voltage there. The fuses are ok, and the voltages of the 450v caps read about 160v. I see no visual damage on either the power supply or main board. I have read online that the main board is usually the culprit in this model, but not getting backlights with the main disconnected makes me...
