Lg 42lc7d

Hi,

I have a LG 42LC7D tv that I picked up. When I first got it, It had trouble turning on. take a few times switching on and off before it would actually stay on. After some research, I bought a power supply repair kit off ebay and I replaced the caps.

Now when I turn the tv on, it comes on, but it cycles on and off every few seconds. Say 2 seconds on, then 2 seconds off.

Any ideas of what could cause these?

I see that is more for the green light flicking on and off. My problem is that the picture itself is cycling on and off, same type of problem?

Have you checked the coils to make sure they are the correct ones or removed and jumped the dodgey coils, I know the initial fault on the thread listed is flashing green led but the bulletin does state shut down and restart

I am sure it is worth the rework to rule them out

I'd say it's a good chance it's those coils. The symptoms were erratic for me. Couldn't get it to power on first and replaced the coil that's directly on the power feed and that was fixed. Then other odd problems commenced. In the end, I jumped more of the coils and the TV was fixed. I can't remember, but I believe I jumped all mentioned coils from the PDF.

You should be able to test them by checking continuity from the small pins on the side of the component to the main pins on either end.

Hi, I have a LG 42LC7D that is exhibiting the OP's problem -- the backlight cycles on/off every 2-3 seconds. Otherwise the TV appears to be working properly.

I looked at the PDF, and for the 42LC7D it reads "Remove the coils with ref# L729, L741, L742, L743, and L744 and install jumper wires". Is there a schematic somewhere that shows the positions of these coils? Also -- can I use standard jumper wires or do I need a certain gauge of wire?

I read the PDF again... since I have the 42LC7D, I need to look for L4010,L4011, L4012, L4203, and L4206. Still can't find 'em

I found them! Cripes, you need a big magnifying glass to see them! On my TV, someone has already jumpered L4010, L4011, L4012, and L4203. Looks well done, like a factory repair. I will commence jumpering L4206 and L4204, as the PDF suggests, and let you know how it turns out.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but which board are those coils on? I have the same set with the same problem.

Disregard my request. My set was built in 2008 and is not affected by those coils. Stay tuned for another post for assistance.

these are on the main board but maybe really small parts
