Re: samsung plasmas & lightning
I have had a couple of lightning strike TV's and both gave the impression of PSU failure but both turned out to be mains

BN96-03775a Small fuse keeps blowing
Hi
I bought this board to repair a sammy and I didnt notice that it must of been damaged in transit
The large poly cap next to the Smoothing cap had a broken leg and when I plugged it in it made and almighty bang and popped the small fuse next to the poly cap...I fitted the polycap back in and now it just keeps blowing the small fuse (red fuse centre of pic)
Any pointers appreciated...

Re: Polaroid TLU-03723b SMD identification
Yep, changed the lvds, tcon, cleaned the flat cables and checked for tab bonding and it is still the same
Dam thing
Can I just add with this model if anyone is searching I have had a couple of these shutting down where cold joints are to blame namely around M200
Also REMOVE the gunk they put around the fet legs....it is best to remove the fets and clean them as the gunk goes rock solid and is a pain to remove in situ
why would they put that crap around the fet...

Is this screen or possible lvds/tcon
The line is green under normal viewing
Cheers...

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Qg on 9n50c is VDS=400v Typical =35
Qg on 11n60C3 = VDD=480v Typical=45

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Thanks so much Tom, just one more question the fet that blew was a 9a500v N, Ihave only got 11a 600v N's spare...that will be ok wont it...

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Theres is two, would one be for the 18a fets and the other for the 9a fets

Re: How do your porperly test inverter transformer.
Hi, I would upload an image of the board, or use this page, if your transformer is listed click on "detail" it will tell you what pins to measure and what readings you should be getting.

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Now im confused, the burn marks were right under the standby ic/transformer.
The only other ic on the underside of the board are (A393F) Board position ICQ803
The only other ics I can see are circled in the pic...

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Right cheers Tom, just to make sure the viper 22a is the controller ic, its the 8 leg ic that is below the transformer on the picture in post#13

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Here is the controller IC datasheet, I cannot find any shorts on it should I test it in a different way...

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
I have just aligned the PSU back in situ and the burn mark on the rear of the screen is not near the fet that blew, but there is a massive black mark under this (pic)...

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Cheers Tom
on the link it tells you which smd resistors are gone
rx802 = Value=200 Reading=11ohms
rx833 = Value=200 Reading=11ohms
rx803 = Value=200 Reading = 4.8kohms
rx832 = Value=200 Reading = 4.8kohms
rx803 and rx832 are the ones that come off the fet gate that blew and are a little charred on top
I am guessing the diode is the three legged jobby that is next to the two resistors rx803,832

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
On the 18a fets I am getting 9.3ohms and the 9a that blew is open, the other 9a fet is 10.4ohms
Thats with components removed from board

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Sorry I tell a lie, if I remove all the fets from the board I get continuity between Source and Gate on the 2 18a Fets and continuity through Source and Gate on one of the 9a fets, the one that blew up DOES NOT show continuity through Source and Gate
This is measuring on the board pads not the legs of the fets out of boardLast edited by signup; 07-16-2013, 04:33 AM.

Re: Toshiba 32BV701B loss of audio
This is getting to be a common problem on this main board, I phoned my TV repair mate yesterday and he has 2 of these with audio faults, an Alba and a Toshiba.
If you do go for a main then be careful matching the things up

Re: Schoolboy error with solder paste
Hi
Tom the controller ic seems to be ok, I am getting continuity between Gate and source on the 2 9n50c and the 2 18a fets is this normal
