    Did I ruin this board?

    Hello,
I'm currently dealing with exact same TV, components, and issues as the one in the thread titled, "Samsung 50" Plasma, No Picture or sound". I'm OBVIOUSLY an amateur when it comes to de-soldering components. In attempting to remove the MOSFETS from this board I also managed to remove the small copper ring at a couple of the solder points. Take a look at the pictures and tell me if I have ruined the board or can it still be saved.

Thanks in advance, any input is greatly appreciated.

Can we see the bottom side of Q809? It looks to be salvageable.

Sorry Tom, and thanks for the reply. I thought I had all of them pictured. As soon as I get home this evening I'll shoot a new picture.

Two questions in the meantime...Are there any other pictures I can provide? From the looks of things, and in your professional opinion, should I be attempting this at all or should I just stick to pipefitting?!

Well, I think the damage is repairable with some skill. I'd recommend you improve your desoldering skills a little, but it doesn't look too bad.

Here is front and back of all 4. The back of 809 is visible here.

Your pic attachment skills are not too great either.

Looks like you ripped some pads clean off... You really ought to get a higher-powered iron. You know, 60W models go as low as $6 shipped.

Use a new Xacto knive blade with small tip to scrape the green paint off the remaining copper traces just enough to solder the part leads on. Use some tinned bare wire to make connections with if needed. Hopefully that is only a two-sided pcb and does not have hidden traces inside.

Maybe its worth $100.00 to save myself all this trouble.

Sparkey, I finally got a 60w iron and I want to attempt to fix this problem. How will I know if I'm actually able to do it or not.

Although it doesn't sound like it, I'm not a total dolt, I do have the ability to pull it off but this is a new area for me. If I can learn how to work on these things properly, I'll enjoy the challenge of trying another one.

You need the 60w iron more for removal than soldering. If I were you, I'd go to youtube and watch a couple tutorials.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                              Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

How do I remove the chip from the board
                              by gusto
I am new to hot air soldering. I need to remove one chip from the board. I have a hot air solder and I set the temperature to 350°C. I slowly started heating the chip, but the solder didn't melt. I heated it for about 5 minutes, but the solder still wouldn't melt. I increased the temperature to 450˚C and still nothing. After a while, the board started to change color, but the solder still didn't melt.
Fortunately, I'm testing it on old network switches to see how it works.
                              What am I doing wrong?

This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...
