    Samsung DLP 50" SP50L7HX

I have had this TV for some time blocking the hallway and did spend some considerable time troubleshooting and came to the conclusion it had an issue with the Main board so looking for some help.

The TV comes on and everything works perfectly fine, but after a while of being on the picture will just go blank, sound still fine and responds to remote still. No OSD on screen either. The projector bulb remains on and the lamp door switch is fine as too is the thermal sensor. At the time of checking all voltages on the PS and to the lamp ballast appeared to be fine.

I wonder if theres anyone who has had experience with one of these Samsung DLP's.

This is a write up of how far I got with it:
Tv picture will go blank (black) no picture unexpectedly but still have sound and Tv will stay on, no error codes, no blinking lights, no error codes, reacts to remote as usual - vol up/down, channel change, A/V source change. Can stay on for an hour or maybe 2, other times it may be 30 mins or maybe just 2 mins, irregular times from cold/hot start. Picture perfect when it does work - not black and white or spotty or distorted picture.
The lamp will stay on, the fan (there is only 1 fan) will stay spinning with no grinding or unusual noises, the colour wheel remains spinning with a slight whirring as it spins down when powering unit off by remote control.
Tried different input sources - Wii console, Sky box (not HD or Plus), Freeview box, standard DVD player but still the picture goes off.
Cleaned out some dust build up from cooling fan/ducting and ballast.
Tried to bypass the 5v prot. ctt on the lamp ballast but still the picture goes off.
Tried bypassing the thermal sensor but still the picture goes off.
Tried removing all IR sources and covering IR sensor on Tv to eliminate other signals but still the picture goes off.
Reluctant to replace lamp as it remains on so can't see it being at fault and the ballast lights the lamp and the lamp remains on with either the prot. cct bypassed or not so can't see it being the lamp ballast either.
Tried running Tv with rear panel on and off but still the picture goes off, thought this might reduce heat build up on other components which might shut down due to over heating issues but still the picture goes off.
Service menu was showing lamp hrs at 11,000 but have now reset to zero hrs.

The last thing I did was to introduce a large desk fan with the rear panel removed and the Tv remained on for a very long time with no issue but I haven't tried this again since, so convinced it is a thermal issue on the Main board, I believe the board is known as the Digital board.

    Help would be greatly appreciated!

The only obvious visible thing I can see on this board is that some of the markings on the top of some of the caps have faded, not sure if this is thermal related or just normal.

I know this board has a couple of BGA chips, could it be they need reballing? I don't have tools or experience doing this so a DIY method may have to be a last resort i.e when I've finally given up with all other options and fed up with it and don't care if I 'balls' it all up.

Since the problem occurs after it warms up (hence time element) you need to accelerate or slow the process by heating/cooling parts and observing changes in symptoms. Then you can narrow it down to individual parts.

This needs bumping, so how did you fix it? new main board, reflow, something else?

Hey share your fix. I am working on this set & suspect the digital board is dead. No life whatsoever buy if I short the 5v standby to power everything powers up but no picture.
