    Philips 32pfl520398 suspected TCON faulty

    Hi Guys,

I am working on this LCD TV

Problem : Black screen with No picture. Sound ok. Backlight is ON.

I disassembled it and suspected the TCON is faulty. TCON is V315B1-C05. Upon measuring some transistors & diodes on the TCON, I found QP1 (marked A3PA 1A) to be shorted. I removed it from the board and confirmed that indeed QP1is shorted off the board. Measuring on the same location on the board with QP1 removed shows it is not shorted. Hence, I will need to replace it but i do not know what is the exact transistor from the marking.

Hope the experts here can guide me along..
    Thanks in advance.

Generally a service a manual would be a good place to start, but this model number bring up nothing online, and the t-con is really rare. So you might want to check your model / part numbers.
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.

      Thank you for your reply.

What i can search online are these :
      http://www.s-manuals.com/smd/a3

However, QP = transistors isn't it?. and mine is SOT-323/SOT-23. So i am still confused.. The closest i can guess is
      https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...0659dfcc30.pdf
But it is a RF Schottky Barrier Diodes not transistor.

If you search A3PA it says it is an N channel enhancement mode MOSFET, though the ones I've checked are in a larger package. Looking at your T-Con suggests this is likely, I'll just check some of my old T-Con boards.

WOW!. How did you came up with that dude?. Is it possible for you to give a link to the search result?. I will need to check what are the other compatible models as replacement. Thank you.

http://www.alldatasheet.com/view.jsp...rd=A3PA-7010-2 there's a list there, I'm suspecting you have the SOT23 variant, which I haven't spotted as yet. It appears to be used in your circuit as a buck converter, to generate a low voltage high current supply. Similar circuits are used in computers for powering the processor. In your case it may be for the TFT array. Hopefully there's not a fault with that.

Before you dive in further, I've found a T-Con with the same IC as you have there (MAX8728E), it has a similar looking circuit but the part that resembles yours has a different device. Looking at the IC datasheet may give you an idea what pin of the IC connects to that, in mine it appears to be pin 19 which looks like the supply. It could well be a double diode.

              Here's the datasheet link.

Edit: Sorry, I was looking at the wrong device! My bad

Thanks again Clydeuk. I will check the datasheet and see which pin on the ic is the Qp01 linking to.

I took another photo this time after removing QP1. From what i see it is linking to pin 27 (Gate). From the MAX8727 datasheet page 14, it should be a p-channel MOSFET.Similar to FDN304P. I hope i am reading it correctly here.

                      Update :
Replaced the p-channel MOSFET with a FDN304P. It did not work well. End up I bought a replacement T-con & TV has been running fine so far.

                        Good day all ,

I have a ACER XB27 that go onto only to white screen .

Upon disaasembly, a Transistor at Q308 is burned good, and two big ceramic caps beside it is blacken . I removed both component , and checked for short (between Fuse and ground) and get 37 ohm, which is still too low .

After weeks of digging old posts about Tcon , i stumble upon this old post from 2017 (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...0&postcount=19), which user momaka wrote

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

                        Hi.

I have a Philips tv where the two main fuses are blown. I found a bad cap. I removed it, and now it seems to work. But i have to replace the cap. I do not have the exact same one at home. What's the purpose for it and what values can i use instead?

Its placed across the Drain and Source on a N/Channel MOS

The blown one is 101K, 1KV (check picture). I have 221K, 1KV at home, can i use that?...

Faulty CRT AKF12/Philips CM8500: bad flyback?
                        by tony359
                        Hi all,

I have a CRT (Acorn AKF12, based on the 240V version of the Philips CM8500) which has stopped working. It's making a high pitched noise but not too high. I know this is symptom of a faulty flyback.

What happens when a flyback fails? I see that the main voltages out of the PSU are not reaching rated values, as if there is a short.
There are supposed to be 125V/26.5V/15.5V outputs but I am reading something like 48V, 10V and 8V. If I unplug the PSU from the rest of the PCB, I can measure the expected values.

Can it be a short somewhere...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...
