    Philips 42TA2800 negative image

    Hi there,

I've been given a tv to see if I can fix it and it has a negative image.

I took the back off and found that one of the ribbon cables coming out of the T-con is blackened where it plugs into the T-con and 1 or 2 of the contacts have been destroyed. The people said it had water damage from re wallpapering their house.

I'm just wanting to know if this is what's causing the issue as it's only affecting one ribbon cable, so wouldn't that mean it should be only affecting one side of the screen??

Maybe try isolating that side and firing up, you may have to clean any crud out of the connector. The T-Con may have been damaged possibly. You don't always get half a screen, it depends on how the panel is driven, one of the connectors may carry the drive signals for the x axis tabs as well as it's side of the vertical. There's some DC-DC converter circuitry on the t-con as well like a buck converter to handle the high currents of all those TFT transistors. There will be a NVM i.c as well.

Might be worth trying another cable after cleaning up the connector, you never know.

      Hi,

Where can I get new ribbon cables? What do I search for?

If you know the pin count you can search on ebay, can also search by common brands that make these cables

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40 has a few options / but as I said you need to know pin count of the cable to match it / and you want may to get something of roughly the same length.

You also have to match the pixel pitch

          Hello there!
Have this Philips with no image at all. When I plug it to the outlet, it turns on without pressing the power button, and after a moment, it turns off, then starts again. I checked the 12v and 3.3v voltages on the main board connector that goes to the T-con, but it only has the former (12v). Any clues, guys?...

Philips 65PUS8518/12 distorted image after main board replacement
          by tuner2000i
          hello everyone,

I don't normally do tv repairs but this is a case with my personal TV which got fried together with many other electronics in my house after a thunderstorm.

The TV is a Philips 65PUS8518/12 which had no power. I measured and concluded that the main board was probably fried through ethernet or hdmi. I found a board with same number 715GD328-M0F-B00-005Y (I had G) but from a 55PUS8518. The TV starts but the image is doubled, distorted. I need to set the panel code which is 016 according to the sticker on the back but I can not seem to do it.

Philips 58PUS8536/12 Backlight ok, no image

          Hello,
the TV turns on fine, seems to be working, but shows no image outside of a thick white vertical line as it turns on that also disappears almost instantly, and then it's just backlight. I've tried unplugging either side, but still can't get an image. I suspect it's a panel issue, but thought i'd ask some smarter people to confirm. I haven't found any weird readings, but then again i'm just randomly poking around with a multimeter.

          Any information would be appreciated....

          Hisense 65R6E3 double-image / horizontal strips - TCON?
          by jason123
Hello all. 3 years back, with your help, I replaced the LEDs on this TV. It's been working great. Yesterday, I turned it on (garage TV), and it has blurred horiz / vert lines as you see in photos. Definitely no physical hit or damage. Top 1/6th of the screen is perfect. Could it be main / TCON board? No tabs to cut on this model. Thank you...
