Kogan KALED553D1A vertical lines and pixelation

Hi everyone, this is my first thread but I've found this forum useful before, thanks to it I now have a working 40" LCD for $30. Yippeee!

I'm back now with another one, I've looked into it as much as I can and I'm guessing its a t-con board problem. But before I order a new one, I wanted to get your thoughts on these photos.

On black screen we see vertical lines evenly spaced across whole screen. with a few other green pixels. Another photo has what the "No signal" message looks like, and on the final photo we see the menu with all funky colors.

The T-con board I'm looking at getting is a CMO model number V546H1-CS2

    Thanks for your time. Pat

I have seen this before on cheap TVs. It was a loose cable between the main board and T-con board.

Can we see some pictures of the chassis layout?

ok, I've jiggled LVDS1 and LVDS2 while tv was on, seems to change the picture but never fix it.

Tough one. I'm thinking the cables are defective since you really should see no change when wiggling them -- assuming the cables stay seated. Either that, or the main board is defective. It's hard for me to be conclusive -- sorry...

You can contact an ebay seller of the parts for this TV. If they have broken up this TV they may be able to sell you the cables. Alternatively Kogan may be able to supply them directly, though as they are simply a rebadge factory (buying from Chinese manufacturers and simply supplying their logo and specification), I have my doubts.

ok thanks. one last question, do you think its more likely to be the main board and not the t-con board that is broken?

Is this a TV which has motion interpolation? e.g. 100/120Hz/200Hz/240Hz?

I know earlier Samsung-based TVs put the motion interpolator on the LCD t-con. That could be bad. Can we see a picture of the T-con, with the shield removed?

No motion interpolator on there, then; that's just an ordinary T-con board. The motion processing is done on the main board then.

Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                                        Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

                                        Hello,

                                        i order a t-con because i had bad colors on my SONY KDL-40V3000 :

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :

I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

Is there a way to fix the vertical lines on the new t-con ?

                                        Thank you for your help

Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

I'm an electronics enthusiast with moderate level of competence (have a decent lab with two power supplies, microscope, DSO, hot air, good iron, can competently work at a component level on SMDs, design and solder own PCBs etc). I really enjoying fixing things and learning new stuff so took up a free 58" LED TV and have been googling and watching Youtube videos to see if I can fix this! I am happy to go down to individual component replacement/strip replacement etc - it's all in the name of learning.
