Bud, all voltages read low. The power supply is making a clicking sound which sounds like it is coming from the transformer. no led lights come on nothing

So the 5V is also reading low? How much?

Re: Westinghouse SK-26H735S Power Supply Problem

OK, ALL of them are low which I am surprise that the 12v and the 24V even turn on by the main board since the voltage is so low for the main board to work and be able to send the PS_ON signal. We will need to work on and find out why the 5VSTBY is low first before going further.
What you can do right now is the have the power supply board connected to the power cord only and nothing else is connected to see if the 5V will be 5V, then we need to put 5 Ohms 5Watts resistor as the load on 5V to see if the it will stay at 5V.

Bud, with just the power supply connected to the power cord I do get 5v on the 5 volt standby.

as far as putting the resistor as load. I would have to order a resistor and im not sure how to connect it as load. I am inexperienced at that.

So it can be that the main board draws too much current or the power supply is bad due to bad caps. There are small start up/running caps in the primary side for the 5V supply, their values are usually about 22~56uF 50vdc or so. Bad caps can also look normal but can have high ESR, you will need ESR meter to find out.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                      by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Bridge rectifier identification part number KPB305G
                      by Steph.hen
Hi all, a newby question about a bridge rectifier I'm trying to identify.

I'm in the midst of reparing a battery charger in work which went pop, The bridge rectifier has shorted and took out a couple of other components. The rectifier in question has a part number KPB305G, and it looks like it's obsolete. Does any one know what I could replace it with?...

Fujitsu Q556, What capacitor for bridge rectifier?
                      by mpn78
                      Hello

My Fujitsu Esprimo Q556 motherboards blew up. At least fuse, bridge rectifier and capacitor got damaged. I have changed fuse and bridge rectifier (DF1508S), but I don't know what capacitor it is (picture). I know that capacitors size is 47nF, but I don't know other specs for it. Can you help me to choose right capacitor for my motherboard?
There is 240V AC on input side of bridge rectifier and 340V DC as output on capasitors side.

                      Thanks....

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply
                      by Seville
                      Hello all!

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply .

I have a Westinghouse LED TV, model WD48FAB100 that is not powering on. Upon removing the back cover, I noticed a burn mark where the AC cord connects to the power supply/main board. In this model, there is only one board combining the two functions. Previous owner said the TV experienced a lightening strike, but who knows. I checked the main fuse, tested OK. Here are a collection of readings from the power supply ports. Looking for some guidance on what to test/check next....
