Tab bonds - Sony Bravia KDLS4100

i am shimming a sony 46" Sony KDL ? 4100? with the TAB BOND detaching problem.
this is the 2nd repair i have done like this however i find that the sony seems tougher.
i have had 90% success eliminating the lines but the far top left tab has some issue that resists complete success.
i can achieve full contact with very firm pinpoint pressure with my fingertip.
however locating a pinpoint shim on that point seems to just cause the problem to jump over a tiny bit.
as you may have guessed the broad shim across the whole tab joint does not work either.
it almost seems that the tab needs to be detached and re-attached..
is that crazy talk or what?

    edit:
nevermind , i see now that is a heat bonding process.

Failed transformer on the inverter -- completely unrelated.

panel damage does not cause inverter circuits to fail since the backlight is not
part of the panel circuitry correct?

It would be completely unrelated. The backlights themselves are considered part of the panel module (the "LCM" -- liquid crystal module) but they're separate from the LCD (liquid crystal display.)

            and one more nooby question..
will intermittant tab connections cause heat and do further damage to the tab bonds and connections and speed up failure?

Use 3/8" OD latex surgical tubing on tab bond for what you call a shim. You can get it on eBay, works good. It can handle the hot temperature too.

I use thermal pads Salvaged from old TCON boards or ordered off ebay. It helps with the heat transfer.

I use a Q-TIP with the ends broken off under the pad for hard to connect problems.
The round shape stays put and keeps pressure on the tab. Call me crazy but I have fixed over 15 tab bond problems, and I am always trying new ways to keep them from failing again.
