    Sparkles - Philips 42PF9431D/37

I'm repairing a Philips 42PF9431D/37 plasma which had an audio board problem that caused 7 blinks, and I'm at the point now where I'm making adjustments to the picture. I'm seeing a couple effects onscreen: (1) It appears that pixels aren't being extinguished timely, which creates a trailing effect that's most noticeable on dark backgrounds with motion (e.g. Directv screensaver). I also notice this when I bring up the TV's menu then close it; the menu leaves sparkles that gradually dissipate. (2) The typical problem sparkling that's visible when video is displayed onscreen is less noticeable after I adjusted VSCAN voltage.

    What I've done so far:
    - All panel voltages have been adjusted to within spec. I gradually adjusted the VSCAN voltage down from -190V to -182.5V, which only had a minor effect - nowhere near acceptable.
    - Checked Y-Sus caps' ESR in-circuit - no anomalies noted.
    - Checked voltage at the Y-buffer connectors: -76V noted at the top pin of the upper connector (I think that was the pin I checked) and -71V noted at the bottom pin of the lower connector (I think that was the pin I checked). I wasn't sure of the significance of these voltages or their disparities.

Note: Ignore the double image in the Directv screensaver pic (took the pic with my phone) - the trailing sparkles are the issue.

For sparklies, play around with Yrr/Yfr on Y-main until picture looks better. Just a matter of finding the sweet spot.

Yeah, I saw a post of yours in another thread, so I started adjusting them - didn't turn out so good. I'm continuing to play with minor VS, VSCAN, YRR, and YFR adjustment combinations to see if I can get an acceptable picture. So far, it looks bleak . Is there anything to the Y-Sus connector voltage variations I mentioned?

I'm unsure about those readings. Checked the VSET and VE too?

VSET and VE match the panel label.

In which case, I would suggest adjusting them from the panel rating, as they too can affect sparklies.

Ok, I'll carefully adjust those voltages and see what happens.

I tried all sorts of combinations of adjustments, but I still get a sparkles that dissipate as the image transitions. Do you think I might have a logic board issue? Adjusting the YFr cleaned things up only slightly. Again, nowhere near satisfactory.

It's not a logic board issue. It's possible it's related to the same problem LG has/had, as the panel ages new firmware needs to be loaded to fix the problem with the sparkling pixels.

Crap. I forgot to mention that I updated the software via the USB port when I first noticed this issue, but it didn't help. It's just odd that the sparkle effect I'm seeing is sort of a retention issue.

It's common for the same thing to appear on LG panels too.

Here's a quick waveform capture from the Y-buffer. I took a shot on a used logic board - may not fix the problem, but it wasn't too expensive. I have the latest firmware ready to load when it arrives.

Panasonic P42S30 Plasma - Pink sparkles
                          by Lintesir
My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.

There is about a 5cm high region at the top without any sparkles,...

Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo

Philips 8200 series 65PUS8204/12 stuck at Philips Logo, it does not reboot it just stays on the logo.

It does power up when pressing the power button.

I already try the power button while plugin the plug with no result.
Also put the latest firmware autorun-TPM191E_R.001.004.100.000.upg on a MBR/FAT32 USB stick at USB port2 with no result either.

Could this be an PSU or eMMC issue ?

Philips 43PUS7506/12 - Loud blown out sound
                          by aidanmo
                          Hello,

I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.
                          • Using the internal speakers, it always happens.
                          • Using the headphone jack, it never happens.
                          • Using the digital/optical out with a soundbar - it happens after about 2h/movie runtime - it's never as drastic, it just pops in and out, but I didn't want it to damage the sound bar
                          ...

Philips 50PUH6400 bad color and gosting / slow motion on one side
                          by Cornito
                          Hello Team,

New issue on LCD panel where I need to find out the cause and the potential solution.
This is on the Philips 50PUH6400, the LCD panel is an INNOLUX V500dk2 xrs1.

I have image, on the right side, the image is more or less normal even if there is a small blur on edge, on the left there is an issue.
When moving up and down in the menu on the right the image is slow to disappear, and is darker, like red/brown.

I've checked voltages, no issue found comparing right and left side of the panel driver.
VHG VGL CKV... are the sames on...

                          by spantor
                          Hello partners.

Could someone tell me how to make this Philips TV source work without the mainboard being connected? The model of the board is EAX65423701 (2.1) and the model of the Philips TV is 40PFH40009/88.
The TV is dead, there is no standby light, however there is a voltage of 12v on the pins ( included 12v VAU ) and 3.2v on the PS-ON pin (see photo) when the power board is connected to the main board. If I disconnect both boards I only get 8 volts on 12v pins. I would like to rule out a fault in the main board by making it work, but so far no one has been able to tell...
