When I put a new fuse into the Power Supply Unit board in my Vizio Model:VW42LFHDTV10A TV, when I plug in the power cord, the fuse blows immediately. I measured the electricity coming out of the power cord (tried several power cords too) and it seems to be fine. Can anyone give me an idea where to look? The PSU board looks fine, but I know looks can be deceiving. Is it safe to say I need a new PSU board? or can anything else in the TV blow a fuse? Your help is very much appreciated!

Re: Fuse blows immediately when I plug in power cord into my Vizio VW42LFHDTV10A TV H
Follow the trace going from the fuse to the insides of the board and check each component touching that trace from the fuse with a multimeter. Set the meter on continuity and touch component leads with both probes to see if they're shorted (with power to the monitor off)
Measure it with the continuity function of your meter and see if the component is shorted. Check diodes to see if they conduct in both directions.
If you still can't determine the component with issues, see what voltage is supposed to come on that trace where the fuse blows, then get an adjustable power supply with current limit function, set the current limit to something low like 100-200mA and connect the power from the power supply to the fuse side with the trace... see what component that's on the trace is much hotter than the others and then remove the power and test that component.Comment

Welcome to the forum-
We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back (in the same orientation) and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.
Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

It will be useful if you can say a bit about yourself - skills tools etc. Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Hi, I'll start by saying that I'm not an expert and I've reached a point where I don't know what to try/do anymore...
Starting from the beginning: I opened this subwoofer for the first time with a very strong smell of burnt electrical components, I realize that on the amplifier board there is a hole between V+ OUT and GND about the size of a finger, the damaged components were the shorted mosfets, two damaged zener diodes and two capacitors. I bought everything, I fixed the hole by cutting the pcb and putting a piece of a perforated board.
I had no problems connecting mosfets and capacitors,...-

by corrizeHello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping... -
Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

To whit..
I have a 60LN5400 that came in.. Backlights work fine.. No display..
Traced the problem to the TCON board.. Blown fuse..
Replaced the fuse.. Blows again.. Replaced the fuse again... This time it fries the marked part on the Main Video board...
Got a new Main Video Board.. Replaced the fuse on the TCON..
The fuse is fine and the backlights come on fine if I don't have the cellophane connectors from the TCON to the... -
by jesteraceHi I wonder if anyone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I have this Samsung UE46ES8000 TV and it went bang during use. The main fuse on the PSU board is open. I've checked every diode/mosfet/transistor I can see and nothing appears to be short to cause the fuse to go. The DC output of the bridge rectifier is not short either. I've seen online that some of these models are known for having their PFC mosfet or other mosfets shorting and blowing the fuse but i'm not seeing that here. If anyone aware of these models having any issues to cause this? I'm reluctant to just replace the...
