    Help Identify CCFL Tubes

    Greetings BadCappers:

--Would you please have a look at these C Shaped (I.E. Rectangular Bend) CCFL Tubes from a 32" LCD TV Display Panel with a smashed screen. A friend of mine allowed me to remove the CCFL tubes before he recycled the metal. I would like to try to sell these on eBay, but I am not sure what TV models they are compatible with. They are 720mm, and 3.4mm wide, with 30mm center to center. I recently learned that eBay will automatically donate a percentage of sale to charities. So I am now donating 10% ($1.00 minimum) of all my sales to the Marine Corps and Law Enforcement Foundation, which helps the children of the fallen with education costs. I know a lot of BadCappers are selling on eBay and I encourage you all to donate to your favorite charity.

--I want to thank all my fellow BadCappers for their help, which has allowed me to rebuild various items, which has allowed me to defray some of the costs of my electronics hobby and and has provided repaired dumpster items, for use by family, friends and the less fortunate.

You need to know the model of the panel they came from. I think only Samsung use U shape CCFL like that, they have a patent on it I believe.

I have also seen Chi-Mei panels with U shaped CCFLs.

I believe Chi-Mei bought a considerable amount of Samsung's IP a while back for the small LCDs, then Samsung had a change of thought and bought it back again. For a long time you could see Chi-Mei T-cons and inverters with Samsung's Lead Free (LF) logo. I think they still own the IP for 26" and below, but Samsung make 32" and above.

          Greetings BadCappers:

--Thanks to Tom66 for the timely and accurate response to my info query (as per usual). I am afraid the panel is long gone, but I do appreciate the information he was able to provide. It will definitely help. Shipping these ~30" long CCFL Lamps is a bit of a nightmare. USPS wants $11.30 (Priority Medium) to ship one of their 36" Triangular Tubes, so I am making my own tubes out of cardboard, and keeping the total weight below 13 ounces. So First Class shipping will be ~$3.00. Thanks for the help.
