    Lg 50pc56

My Tv is having a few issues had it a few years now never had a problem.

The tv powers on seems to work fine etc but theres what i call noise/distortion like little white/green/multicoloured dots mainly show on blacks and theres also a thin red/blue line running down the middle of the screen

The line doesn't really bother me but the noise/distortion on black/dark scenes is starting to annoy me

any ideas on what the problem is?

took a video best i could to show this, i have the back off already and it seems the roller fan has died too

    Very common issue.

Line is a bad plasma panel, probably.

The noise is known as "sparklies effect" or "maldischarge". It can be rectified only by re-programming the control board firmware, which must be done with a jig, approx £120 to buy from LG. Several members on this forum offer reprogramming services for a small fee.

Yep, board needs to go off to a member here. Can't remember off my head who does this but if you do some searching you'll find a few offering the service.

New board doesn't usually come with the upgraded firmware.

The plasma panel begins ageing causing the sparklies, and the firmware fixes the problem.

I have a feeling user "muskin" may do this, I think he is the person I sent my board off to last time.

he's not been on since december and in Hudson NC, sending a board to the US is just going to be costly

                  thanks anyway

don't know whether to just bare with it, adjusted the POT on the back and it's cleared it up a fair bit

Got the same problem as you had in your last post you stated you adjusted the pot on on the back and it cleared up the problem but not completely. Take it you were referring to VS pot on PSU board. Appreciate sometime has now passed. Have any issues developed after decreasing the VS voltage?

Surprisingly enough, this receiver doesn't have the DSP chip issue. The HDMI board does not get hot, and sound over HDMI works fine.

Regardless of the input, the right channel has noise that is clearly noticeable even on average volume level. The only cases when there's no noise is when VCR input is selected (some tracks on the board are damaged, maybe that's why), or if HDMI input is selected but nothing plugged into it. In all other cases, even when no input is connected I still have the noise.

There's some logic behind it. As soon as I select an input I get only left...

I bought used Logitech Z-10 computer speakers. They can act as a USB audio device or accept line input, and they have a headphone output jack. Some music didn't sound right, so I played a frequency sweep and heard other frequencies and beat frequencies between them and the sweep. I uploaded a spectrogram of a frequency sweep. From the very start, some but not all odd harmonics are visible, indicating symmetric distortion. Then at higher frequencies there are descending images of those harmonics, indicating non-linearity and constant higher frequency noise mixing with the harmonics. The image of...

                                Hello

I have since a long time a Philips HTS8010S/01 which has been old but was doing the job.

Since a few days, it starts by making a weird "static" nois when switches on for a few seconds to a minute and then works like a charm.
Noise loudly outputs from the 3 channels, even if no signal is sent by the controler.DVD to the subwoofer/amp unit.

I was thinking of a soldering that was starting to be damaged and that was only doing the job after a few seconds of heating, most probbaly on the power board
                                Removed each of tyhe boards

                                Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

                                Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.
