I have a chance to buy this TV. Seller says the horizontal line was there from day 1. Is this a bad panel or fixable? I hope the photo is good enough.

Re: HP-S5053 Plasma
Careful. Lots of issues with bad panels on this model causing the same issue. Rare for buffer to fail in such a way. Possible... but rare. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: HP-S5053 Plasma
One of those things it may be simple fix, a buffer board or non repairable which you can't really tell until you get it and play with it.Comment

Re: HP-S5053 Plasma
Yes, it's a plasma. I also agree with Tom that I would tread lightly on this one. I wouldn't think it's a buffer issue if "the horizontal line was there from day 1" and the TV appears to be at least 6 years old (I guess it depends on what the seller means by "day 1". He may have bought it used himself). There's some service info here: http://www.toms-service-manuals.com/...&Search=SubmitLast edited by capkid; 07-06-2013, 09:29 AM.Comment

Re: HP-S5053 Plasma with 4 blue blinks
update: got the service manual. all voltages are good with all connectors plugged in. Y and X main boards are getting voltage but not 'on' (no heat from heatsinks). have green flashing led on digital board. set acts like it is on but no video, no OSD, or audio. all fuses on x and y are good. thanksComment

by ArMaaN376Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.
How to confirm Y -Buffer board... -
by jm1234Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults... -
by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on... -

by YanlebHi all,
I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.
So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).
Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer.... - Loading...
