Vizio 37" VW37L stuck on standby

Hey I'm trying to help a friend of mine get his tv fixed. The TV is stuck on the amber vizio light and when I press the power button nothing happens, it just stays on the amber light and doesn't turn on.

I opened it up, doesn't seem to bee any bulging capacitors. I read that vizio tv's have alot of problems with voltage regulators. I'll check those on the main board later, but while looking on the main board I found this little component burnt. I don't know if I'll be able to replace that little part.

Does anyone know what this part is? And could it be the fault? Thanks for the help!

That component is the HDMI input protection.

More than likely a surge came through the HDMI port and caused that damage you see. The trouble is, if the surge has done that to that component, it could have damaged the main processor on that board, under the heatsink.

If you're lucky, that component has simply created a short between, say, the 3.3V and ground, and removing that would cause a loss of one of the HDMI ports, but the TV may power up. You can then try and source a replacement, or use a HDMI splitter.

It looks like u10 took some heat there. It should have the same part number of the part next to it. U9 I think.

I just wonder if you'll be able to find that chip.

After doing a little research on ebay, its gonna cost at least $65 to replace the board however that chip might be on multiple hdmi ports on other mainboards. I may have a junked vizio main board at home that may have that same chip. I will check and get back to you. If I don't get back, pm me.
