LG 42LG3000 Backlight for 2 sec

    Hi.

I have been reading a whole bunch of thread here on Badcaps.com about tv repairs but i just can't find the fault on my LG.
When i turn the tv on it starts as expected by showing the channel number in the upper right corner but about 1 or 2 seconds later the backlight fades and it turns black. By pointing a flashlight at the screen i can still see the channel number.

I have desoldered every single capacitor and meassured capacitance but not the ESR as i do not have the right equipment. The caps seems to be fine though with the right capacitance and no visual error.

I have resoldered some bad solder points on the blacklight inverters as well with no success.

I may try to buy new caps and replace them all but i am hoping that you might have some tips on how to solve this.

I attached a few pictures to show the boards and a video to show how the tv behaves. http://youtu.be/buCtI47IUzc

I have a stupid question? Did you try to update the firmware yet? (Version_03.55.01)

      Available here http://www.lg.com/ie/support/product...initialTab=faq

Service manual trouble shooting section states as follows:
This board has big problem because
      Main IC(IC100) have some troubles.
After checking thoroughly all path once
again, You should decide to replace
      Main Board or not.

This is probably 2 seconds to black, so check the BLON signal on mainboard to see if it is main board or inverter/PSU/bulbs.

tom66: could you please describe how to check the BLON?

UN65TU700DF picture and sound but no backlight. BL tests ok but repl. PSU didnt fix!
            by triplefour
this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
            by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

Reverse engineering of 18650 4-channel tester
            by spleenharvester
            Hi friends

I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
            by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

            No Backlight Macbook A1990 820-01041
            by Comp_Pro
            Hello all,

Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.

            Tests performed:

There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
            Fuse F8400 ok
            Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground
            I2C_BKLT_SCL and I2C_BKLT_SDA both measure...
