Vizio SV470m wont power on (stuck in standby mode)

Hi guys, I'm having trouble with my Vizio SV470m 47 inch TV. It will no longer power on and is stuck in standby mode with the Vizio logo on the front remaining orange.

Let me give you a little background information on how the problem started:

The tv was working fine just a couple days ago, but got to where it wouldn't power on using the remote so i turned it on from the side of the TV thinking it was probably the batteries. The next day the TV would not turn on from the side power button anymore.

I looked into the problem and researched it, and learned that a lot of times when the TV is stuck in standby mode and won't power on that it's usually the power supply board. I decided to order the power supply board (part #0500-0412-0780) and replace it myself. The part finally arrived and I replaced it thinking that was going to fix the problem, but it didn't.

The forum I was reading on said in rare circumstances that if the power supply board didn't fix the problem that it had to be the main board. I decided to keep the new power supply board connected and ordered the main board (part #3647-0192-0150) for the TV. Got the main board in today and installed it, but the problem still remains. The TV will not "click" on. All it does is stay in standby mode with the orange Vizio light on.

If anybody knows how to fix this problem I sure will appreciate it. I hate to throw out a perfectly good tv, but I am out of solutions to fix the problem .

    Thanks in advance!

I would usually think the opposite for Vizio. Their main boards are generally the ones that go bad while their power supplies are usually made by delta and even this model looks like it has good components on it.

You can try holding the power button for ~10sec and see if that cuts it on.
Or if disconnecting LVDS does anything.

Otherwise you probably have firmware issues on the main.

You can check the regulators on the board and check if the backlights work.
    Use this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...ghlight=sv470m

The general consensus for this though is main replacement.

I guess your board has the suffix "5C"?

I will try out the suggestion on holding down the power button as soon as I get home. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by disconnecting the LVDS to see if it does anything. If you can help me understand that I will definitely give it a try. Also you asked about the main board having the suffix "5C", my main board has the suffix "5D". Is the "5C" board the one with firmware issues or something? Thanks for the reply by the way!

Re: Vizio SV470m wont power on (stuck in standby mode)

I just noticed that the main board that was originally in my tv ended in "5D" and the board I bought to replace the original ends in "5C". Could this be the problem with the tv still not powering on? I'm not sure what the different versions are because the serial number on it matches exactly up until the "5D" or "5C" in parenthesis.

I have no idea what the suffixes mean but I did some research, and 5C should still work even if the original was a 5D. I would try and see if you can get a part exchange.

Re: Vizio SV470m wont power on (stuck in standby mode)

If I were you I'd stop blindly replacing parts, put the original parts back in, take voltage readings, and find out what is wrong with this thing. So far you've gone about fixing this thing all wrong. If you read most of the repair threads here you'll see the trend of how we help anyone fix anything.

1.First... search this site for this model number. You might find this problem solved already.

2.Then post the pictures of your boards using manage attachments on the post page. You may have a simple fix that can be caught by techs by visually examining your board.

3.Post voltage readings from the output connector of your power board.

4.Then post voltages from regulators on the mainboard.

Board swapping is costly and sometimes leaves you with more questions than answers.

I have the same TV )SV470M), nothing happens when you press power. I have PS_ON, 5v and 12 V, yet no power to the inverters. Anyone managed to fix this one?

Check voltages to the mainboard regulators. If you post a picture of the mainboard (closeup and clear), I can identify the parts to check. You really should post pictures of the power board as well.
