no problem, it seems it might be a little later getting it than i originally thought. im heading over thee now, hopefully be back in 30 minutes to one hour. if you think you wont be on by then, can you list what i should test please? maybe even do so anyway so i can start right away when i return home.
OK, I need you to check the Vs voltage on the Y-Main connector.

tso far what i can find is saying to put the black probe into a mounting hole, and the red probe onto one of those little nodes. is this correct? or do i need to use the empty slots in one of the plugs going from the psu to the y board?
after researching more, that didnt seem right, and on the board written was 1 2 vs 1 2, and that made me think the top 2 plugs in the connector were for vs, and since one of the cords was black i put the black one in there, and the red one in the slot beneath it, then plugged it in, getting very small reading for the second or 2 its on, of .1-.2 volts.
Sorry I'm super busy at the moment, but I think you did it right. Vs is definitely dead. You should measure close to 170V on this older Samsung design (newer Samsung use 200V or so.) Now try without both Y-Main and X-Main connected.

also, strangely, i randomly pressed a few butons on the front while only X was connected, and it beeped when i pressed them, which had neve happened before.
Is there a free-standing post marked "Vs" on the power supply?

PSU board is middle, yes. It connects to main power input.
OK, you will have to be careful, probe it directly on the power supply pin, do not short it out to anything.
