    Sharp Aquos LC-32GD8E

    Just bought this from ebay.

    Its a Sharp Aquos LC-32GD8E.

Guy said it wont come on but has standby light, but there is no lights at all, when i plug it in 3 lights flicker on the front of the tv, they flicker once and very fast.

The psu is a DUNTKD605FM14, all rubys apart from the 2 main filter caps which are Nichicons.

I get all the correct voltages on the psu apart from the 24v inverter power.

Attached is the schematics for the hole tv, page 5 is the psu.

    Any help would be great.

PS, the way the boards are connected together is stupid.

    EDIT,

I have searched on here but found no similar problem.

I think the way the boards are attached is excellent. I really like how they do it. Not only does in minimise clutter in the chassis, it means the connectors are really secure and not going to fail. Once you get used to them they are easily removed.

I may have encountered this PSU before... though it wasn't at fault. I have the SM for the LC-32SD1E, which is probably similar.

Should the 3.3v going to the clicky power button short to ground to power up the tv? Because thats what it does?

No idea, you're the brainy one here

Is there anything i can check on the mainboard? The relay on the psu doesnt click either, but tested with a 9v battery and the relay works.

Sugar, forgot to add pics to first post.

Yep I seen this PSU before.

Count the blinks when the power is pressed. OPC will blink as will power. This gives you an error code. e.g. 2-5 might be backlight control.

Thats my problem, i searched on here and most have a flashing opc light.

I get no lights whatsoever. No relay.

All 3 lights flicker when i put the power cord in, very dim and for less than a milli second, its not a code, just the boards receiving power i think.?

If you have standby voltage and no PSON, suspect the main board.

I cant find the pin for PSON, I see BLON for backlights but no PSON.

                    Re: Sharp Aquos LC-32GD8E

It would appear it uses two signals, PCON1 and PCON2. I note it has a separate 24V power supply, so the PCON signals probably control the individual supplies. Check if they change when power button is pressed. PCONs are on the 2nd largest connector going to the main board assy.

Any change is good, if they are zero to 3V, or 3V to zero, but the PSU doesn't come up, suspect PSU.

No voltage at all across them.

But i did notice that both of them are 15 ohms to ground when power cord plugged in and 1574 ohms when power cord pulled out.

                          Does this tell us anything?

It tells us the main board is pulling them low... time to look at the main board.

                              Is this a bad sign?

I see no corrosion anywhere on the boards.

                                  1st is flux, normal.

2nd is rust, probably been in someone's garage after it failed.

Follow this guide, you will need to make/buy a cable:

Ok, got hyperterminal set up, Just need to make a lead.

Will the tv even respond even though it has no opc lights?

It might... but I don't know for sure.
Note: You need to get the firmware from Sharp. I am not sure how you can/would do this.

What could i check on the mainboard, could it be a short?
