Yes the -50 indicates 5.0V output and you are seeing 4.98V (close enough.)

I had exactly the same TV and problem. After eliminated all possibilities, the main process (the one in the metal cage with many holes) apparently was not working. I opened the cage and found the heat sink was not evenly placed on the chip -- the temperature could be a bit too high. I believe the BGA needed to be re-flowed. I did a quick heat-gun re-flow. It fixed the problem.

I will give that a try, nothing to lose here. Since I have determined that that is the board that is bad, that makes sense. I'll let you know, and thanks!

well it depends on your thoughts
if the tv is wroth repairing than there is something too loose

if you are just gonna say wtf it works or not who cares then go for it

heat up the chip with a heat gun but not for more than 2 mins, after it cools turn tv on if it works then reworking will fix it and have it repaired if its worth it to you

if you go more than 5 mins you could damage it and prevent a proper reworking

I've got this same TV with the same problem. I know a new thread is preferred around here, but there's already so much information in this one.

I would just like to find out what chip people are referring to when they say to do a reflow. I don't see any BGA chips on the main board or the Tcon board. The only one may be U513. The one mounted diagonally, but I still see little pins around the edge of that.

            Thanks

Oops. Never mind. It doesn't look like I can edit or delete older messages to clean up my previous one.
I now understand len.wang's message better. I had to unsolder the RF shield on the main board to find them.
It looks like LG hasn't learned that with heat sink compound, more isn't better.
I've had some luck in the past reflowing BGA problems by wrapping the board in aluminum foil, cutting out a hole around the problem circuit, and putting it in an oven at 350 deg. F. for 10 minutes, then turning off the oven and letting it slowly cool.
Since I found this one at the town trash bin, I've got nothing to lose.

Re: Vizio 32 inch (VA320M) Eco 1080p black screen

To follow up, I wanted to let people know that the BGA reflow has worked for this set. My first try didn't fix it, but then I figured out a bit better procedure that has fixed a couple items now.

I wrap the board in aluminum foil.
Cut the foil out around the circuits in question.
Put it in the oven at 350 deg. F for about 10 minutes.
Carefully remove it since the solder may be melted at this point.
I used a small heat gun I have to heat the ICs to 200 deg C.

I have a nice small heat gun. Search HG-300D to see it. I also used a Harbor Freight non-contact thermometer to make sure I stop when getting to 200 deg. It's their part number 93984. (Don't forget to use their coupons if you purchase one.)

I then left it alone to cool to room temperature.
Put the heat sink back on with some compound.
It looks like hot melt glue is needed to keep it in place.
I'd like to say I soldered the RF shield back in place, but I lost it.

While it was apart, I also took off the Orange/White LED and diffusion screen. I then put a piece of electrical tape over the Visio logo, and cut a small bit around the middle of the 'Z'. Now I just have a small dot of light instead of that obnoxious advertisement.

I don't think I would ever pay for a Vizio after seeing this one work. It takes about 2 seconds for the picture to appear when changing channels. A Sony I fixed takes less than 1/2 second.
Also, unless there's still some bad connections with that BGA, Vizio has some weird screen size settings. Panoramic seems to stretch the sides while leaving the center normal. It's dizzying when there's a camera pan. Also the Normal mode puts only a 10 1/2 X 6 1/2 inch image on the screen for SD programs.
I've never seen TV settings like that, so it may be something still wrong with the TV, or something wrong with Vizio's designers.

Just wanted to chime in and say I had the same problem with this Vizio model, and the above process worked for as well.

It was given to me in non-working condition, and I'm glad this community was able to help me keep it out of the E-waste pile a bit longer.

                      Thanks!
