Yeah you did, after looking at all the options in more detail it worked out better value with CHS (2 diodes for £7.00ish delivered).

Farnells minimum £20.00 spend and postage ect. Do you think I would of been better of just doing what I was told first time round lol?

Right next move will be to get the blasted thing back down from the wall and replace the diode. I will make the legs a lot longer to aid cooling this time.

The replacement SB3200 has a 0.9v drop. The original VSB3200 has a 0.63v drop. That difference must have been why it failed.

In addition, junction capacitance is much higher, which will lead to a slower reverse recovery, and earlier failure.

OK CHS refunded my money and I have ordered 2 of these:

Postage was £12 and the total was £14.27 hope all bases covered for a fix.

Ok well got the bits and no customs charge (bonus) and so swapped out the diode.

Did a quick test on the old one and it did test ok! So might have to issue an appologie to the nice lady at CHS. I have to say they have a good aftersales service at CHS but the website did not make it clear I was not going to get the exact part I ordered.

Digikey on the other hand sent exactly what I wanted so I am happy I have the correct part now.

Anyhow,

Swapped over the diode and still not working.

Did notice another diode I had tested last time looked a little hot/burnt? Tested that and its short circuit. You can see the diode removed in the picture (central).

I used the schottky diode as a quick test replacement and still nothing. Do you think this was a good test??

The diode is a:IN4007S 943

1N4007 MUST be replaced with 1N4007. A normal diode has too low breakdown. 1N4007 is 1000V rated.

Checked fuses replaced the diode and nothing. Psu clicked on then off. Sooooo something is up.

What does standby voltage measure?

Bit of a weird one.

Control board unplugged 2.8v.

Control board plugged 0.4v. Power TV jumps upto 4.28v then hit standby it sits at 4.28v for about 40 seconds then drops suddenly back to 0.4v.

I really should be annoyed its broken again lol.
