Does anyone know of a good method to check an LCD Screen for any possible cracks at all when none are seen on the external screen and the TV does not power on or have any video just a dark screen to look at, can a flashlight work for this? Thanks!

Re: How to check LCD Screen for Cracks on a dead TV
Look at it in direct bright sunlight - you will see all the cracks.
I bought a set from someone who swore that the screen was not cracked - when the sunlight hit it, all the cracks that he said were not there became visible.Last edited by crtfool; 10-27-2012, 12:23 PM.Comment

Re: How to check LCD Screen for Cracks on a dead TV
Sometimes, it is hard to tell. With a good light, sunlight if possible, look at the screen at different angles. Some people say it is not cracked or only cracked on the 'inside' because they don't see it shattered and glass pieces falling off.Comment

Re: How to check LCD Screen for Cracks on a dead TV
I just do not mention that I don't buy cracked screen TVs in my ads. Sounds strange but it works. The majority of people say "it looks like an ink splat" or "my nephew threw something at it and it has gone all wrong" so I don't buy those. Only had one out of 28 LCDs where the guy tried to hide the cracked screen from my dad by pulling the fuse out... unfortunately I wasn't there as you could -easily- see the crack in the screen under room lighting... but I only lost £20 to that. Please do not PM me with questions! by Rav_tangleHi all , thanks for having me & I think this has been asked before but my case seems a bit odd.
I have a MacBook Pro , board 820-2915a and it turns on , chimes etc etc , keyboard lights up, fans spins , can turn caps lock on/off but screen is dead.
Iv tried the resets , shine torch through back logo , nothing , it seems the screen has no power. If I plug charger , it charges but if I disconnect battery it displays green light but won't turn on. Iv tried screen on with another board & it works & seems I'm not getting any voltage at pin 2 , next to ground pin .

by NeilMcGHello all,
First time posting, so please be gentle 😂
HP Elitebook 850 G2 Win 10 with Intel HD Graphics 5500.
Screen dead, but booting.
I connected it to an external monitor via both VGA & Display Port outputs and external monitor works fine, nothing with F4 or detecting another screen in settings.
Got a replacement panel, still dead & still displayed to external screen as before.
Removed CMOS & left it. CMOS reconnected, all as before, no panel, external monitor works.
Got replacement cable... -
by smic717394Hi,
I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on... -
by Donny2derbyPicked this up other week and when I originally looked at in the sellers house I got 3/4's of a working screen and some horizontal lines across the 1/4 of it which was dead/black.
Just tried powering it up at home and now all I'm getting is a clicking and some very faint lines on 1/4 of the screen whilst the entirety of it is dead.
When using the remote I get two red clicks on the standby. Not sure if this means anything or helps. The same when I use the manual power up.
Help appreciated. I'm an electrician, I've fixed a few in the past so not a total... -
by ChrissygizmoHello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same... - Loading...
