    Bush IDLCD32TV16HD Dead

Just bought this off ebay, going to collect it at around 6ish, It has a IPOS 150 power supply.

Seen a few posts with this power supply, read them but it seems these are quite troublesome.

Picking it up tonight so will get some pics up.

If it's a MEGMEET IPOS, probably some bloated CapXon on there...

Have to look tomorrow now, my lift was a little late so arranged to collect tomorrow.

Hopefully its a nice easy fix as you say Tom.

Ok, i have the tv now.

I have standby light, press the power button and the tv attempts to come on, hear the speakers hiss a little, but in a nice way.

No backlights come on, checked in a dark room.

All voltages are ok on the power board, i get the same readings as other posts on here.

Now, where do i start? And is it possible to test the cfls without killing myself?

No backlights at all, not even a flash = inverter failure. Check the power rail going into the inverter (should be 24v on a set this size) and the mosfets on the inverter.

inverter is built onto the psu. I think I read that the inverter on the is supplied 240v

Those two 4.7u 450V caps near the transformers are a -very- common failure.

Well, i USED to get a standby light,,,

I changed a 50v 22uf cap under the heatsink and now it wont work at all. It used to buzz a bit but now its silent?

I have put the original cap back in and still same problem.

What have i done to it? Is this a single layer board?

There is 330v across the big cap.

No matter where i probe, using chassis as ground i get either 140vdc or -140vdc?

Primary is isolated, use -ve on primary cap as ground for primary.

All the voltages i used to have are gone, 5v 12v and 20v.

How can i have messed it up by changing one cap?

Cn you show me on pic what you mean tom, when you have time that is.

And a red led used to flash on the psu to say there was a fault but thats gone too.

                        -ve = negative (shorthand)

So when probing anything on the mains primary side, do not use chassis ground, use primary ground (the negative lead on the big cap.)

Re problem checked for lifted pads cut tracks etc?

Your main problem is likely inverter as unique suggested.

if I put 84v through a 474 smd resistor should there be any voltage on the other side ? I may have broke it during the cap change.

We never ask people to measure the AC voltage of the inverter transformers in the ccfl section. They can easily spike up to > 1000V AC during initial strike/ignition which will kill your multimeter in possibly spectacular fashion.

You can test ccfls "indirectly". The 2 seconds to black guide has an entire section on testing ccfls safely.

I wasnt going to put any voltage across it pal, just trying to figure out if i damaged the smd resistor, i have replaced it and still the same problem so i know its ok.

Just strange that i now have no power on the pins i did have power on before i replaced the 50v 22uf cap?

Thanks RC, i will have a look at that thread when i figure out what i have done wrong to lose all my voltages.

You cannot measure the HV with a DMM. You have probably damaged the meter, but in the very least, measurement is not generally possible.

One retiredcaps' bonus point for a picture of your multimeter.

You want to measure the resistance between the secondary pins. A diode test will report readings as voltage.

HI all. Just a note for anyone that has one of these TVs.
                                          Make: Bush (China)
                                          Model: BLED42FHDAE.
Symptoms: Half screen went dark, then tv wend dead. No power lights. Fuse checked ok.

First thing checked was standby 5v: Present @ 5.1v.
PS_ON signal from main board: Present @ 4.5v.
I suspected the power supply to be in a foldback / crowbar condition after the screen going out, so I disconnected the power to LED Backlight board (Part ER643). Now standby light is on and TV responds to remote power on - light goes green.
                                          Disconnected the LEDs from the...

                                          Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

                                          hello guys,

                                          i need help to repair a edm-033 ps2
history : as always hdmi port and usb ports destroyed after unplugged
after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
                                          so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.

Hello everyone hope all doing well!
I have this PSU (GPS450-AA delta oem) around for like 4-5 years and I had it recapped early 2020 or 2021 with mostly UCC KY and Nichicon PW's. The bulk was and still is fine, the original Ltec's were bloated and empty. The previous issue was some major coil whine noise and at times random shutdowns when going idle. Today it started tripping the mains breaker and I think I have dead APFC mosfets (20N60C3). Right now upon checking I have the Q1 and Q3 FETs dead so far and I guess those are responsible for the PFC circuit. The only thing I care is If there...

                                          Hi guys!
I searched for the term "dead short" in the forum but no specific thread came up however if I'm just blind and couldn't see the thread talking about this please forward me to that direction.
So my problem is I don't know how to find the source of a dead shorted voltage rail. Dead short = ~0 ohm resistance.
I have two VGAs (HD 4850 and HD 4870), both dead shorted to ground on the memory rail. I have the boardview file for the 4870 and the memory rail consists around ~7892346 capacitors...
I have a bench PSU and if I try to inject voltage the voltage...
