olevia lcd tv has no sound until the tv warms up

i have a 37 in olevia lcd tv model #lt37hvs and when you first turn it on there is no sound except for some loud popping noises and some functions of the remote wont work...after a few minutes of the horrible popping noises the sound comes on and works fine until you turn it off and let it cool off..when you turn it back on same old deal...any ideas?..thanks in advance

Inspect the power supply board first to see if it has any caps with bulging tops, bad caps can look normal too, so start with that first.
Next thing we will need are good clear pictures that show how all the boards are connected together, and then pictures of each board. Use GO ADVANCED to upload the pictures.

none of the caps are bulged but i did notice that the 2 close to the heat sink have turned a purple color..all the other caps are blue

Take the back off, then before turning it on heat all the boards up with a hairdryer, Does it still do the same?

upon closer inspection with an eyeglass one of the caps is bulging with a residue leaking from it

Don't normally need magnification to see a bulging leaking cap.

Well, at least now you found the cause of the problem. I would replace the caps as a complete set, minus the large DC filter cap in the primary side. You can use PANASONIC FM/FR/FC series from Digikey.

hi guys...i replaced the caps on the power supply board and it did no good,,,,so i used a hair dryer and heated up the caps on the main board until i found the one that was causing the trouble...i replaced it and it fixed the sound problem...but the tv still has a problem...it has 2 coax plugs ..one for antenna and one for dtv..when i use the antenna plug the tv works fine....but the dtv doesnt work...anyone have any ideas on whats going on with it?..thanks in advance

Did you go to the DTV and select it in the user setup menu and then do the channel scan?

yes...when you go to dtv...there is no option to do a channel scan

i downloaded one online...it says just go to menu...then dtv then scan...but there is no scan there

I can only say you are not lookin hard enough.

Not sure how it goes over there but if you get a tv round here from more than 10-20 miles away you have to scan for channels again. This is because different parts of the country broadcast on different frequencies.

I have even had to scan again after moving less than 3 miles, so look for that scan, because it will be there.

Can you take the picture of the user menu setup for the DTV setting? Is the scanning menu grayed out?

I just read the manual, the DTV is for off the air Digital TV using antenna, see page 53, the other port is for UHF/VHF/CABLE system, page11
