    Vizio P50HDTV10A Blinky Blinky

I acquired this from a family member. I have zero electronic skills, I am a painter. So, this system turns on and then starts blinking, the picture just goes off and on. It makes no noises to speak of. I asked another family member about it, and as a result of that conversation, I took out the power board (with help) and had it repaired (11 popped caps).
So as happy as I was, when put back together, it still blinks.
I am at a loss, and I have read several posts about y boards and x boards, but no idea what one looks like, top remove to haver it repaired. Taking it in for repair is not an option. Anyone have any input, and thank you very much in advance.

First thing you need to do is pull the plug. remove the connectors that go from the power supply to the board on the far right and the far left. Power it up. Does it stay on or turn off again. If it stays on unplug it. Wait 10 minutes then plug in the right board again. Power it up. Does it still stay on?
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Looking at the PSB there is no connection to the far right board.
Two connections to the far left board, then that has a connection that runs across the top to the right board. I unplugged both connections to the left board and powered it up. I have audio, but the screen stays black.

Take the psu back and say it still wont turn on. Did the guy test the psu or did you just ask for caps to be replaced?
Do NOT touch heatsinks when testing for voltages as they may be LIVE!

This PSU may also suffer from the LG AC detect issue. Check the AC Detect pin if you can find it.

When powered up with all the connectors plugged in to the power supply, does the picture flash and a corresponding ticking noise come from the Ysus board(the biggest board on the left side of the TV looking from the rear)? Do you also get sound while the picture is flashing?

With the sustains unplugged do you have vs and va voltage? Va should be 60vdc and vs like 203 or something.

I am not an electronics person, so no measuring volts or any idea what a sustain is...

More than likely it is your y sustain board, the board on far left on back of tv. I also has this same issue with a p50hdtv10a, would flash white to black screen on initial startup. Replaced the Y board, all is good now!

If you could see a faint image with the X-main removed, the X-main is at fault. You can replace or repair it. On Samsung plasma panels, I tend to just replace it because they're generally quite available.

                                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                Assuming...

                                Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

                                Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                                Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                                by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
