Trying to figure what circuit board might be the culprit. The TV powers on can goto menu and settings, when I attach a HDMI, USB, or Cable TV to unit the power resets, philips screen comes on and keeps on resetting. Think it might be either the Jack Power CBA unit or the Digital Main CBA unit. Any ideas how to isolate which one. I have the schematic and a fluke meter.

Re: Philips 42pfl3704d/f7 power reset when HDMI, USB, or cable attached
I tried a cable to the tv without the box and I do get picture. The colors look ok but not bright and vibrant. Also when I do a auto channel select it does not find any channels, but manually I can input them. -
Re: Philips 42pfl3704d/f7 power reset when HDMI, USB, or cable attached
Hmm. I wonder if some kind of excessive load on the 5V line is causing the problem. It is the only thing I can think common to USB, HDMI and sometimes cable (if it provides power through the cable feed - I believe some do.) I would maybe suspect the power supply - see if you can find the 5V test point and check it.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Philips 42pfl3704d/f7 power reset when HDMI, USB, or cable attached
Tom,
Took a chance and purchased a power supply board, thought I had some bad readings, but the new board I have the same problem. Any external input HDMI, USB, or cable box the set goes into an automatic restart. If I just hook up the cable straight from the wall I get a tv picture. When I tried to do an automatic channel setup the tv reboots. I can punch in a station let say channel 5, I get a scanning pop up , then the station will come on.
Any ideas out there would be appreciated, thanks.Comment

by double_DDHi all,
Wife has 2 Philips hair curling irons half defective - after learning how they're supposed to work and testing them, it turned out that both have defective power cables, and both on the same place; broken wires due to wire bending.
As they were both relatively easy to disassemble, and cables are plugged not soldered (as they can rotate in the handle), I was sure it would be easy to find replacements. But - NO! I'm unable to find anything similar on ebay or Aliexpress.
Not sure if this is something Philips proprietary, or a standard, but the cable plug... -
by ictcI'm troubleshooting a Philips MDP 3380/12 Blu-ray player that shows no signs of life. The display remains off, and no buttons respond.
Inside, the power supply is working correctly, and all expected voltages on the mainboard match the service manual specifications. The CPU warms up slightly (checked with a thermal camera), the crystal oscillator is functioning, but the reset signal remains high at all times.
The reset circuit appears to consist of two NPN transistors, one driven by 5V VCC and the other by 3.3V STBY, as shown in the attached schematic. Should the reset... -
by sli4I recently turned on my old NES to find the red light won't go on at all. When powered on it shows black bars on the tv and a loud buzz through the tv speakers. Powering it off, the buzz goes away and tv goes back to normal (white snow).
I tested the power supply itself and it is outputting 9V as it should - first two solder joints on the board at the power port show the same.
Here's where it starts getting funky - When powered on, one side of the 7805 voltage regulator is showing 18V and the other is about 8.7V (center 0).
On the big blue connector I get... -

I have here a Philips 47PFS7509/12 LCD TV which came to me with a weird problem : without signal i could access menu, make a factory reset, access menus, etc.
When i applied cable signal to check image, i had normal picture, but TV was restarting.
I downloaded original firmware and applied the update, but the problem remained.
From a colleague i received a "factory package software" which is a lot bigger.
I made another firmware update, but still did not solve the problem.
Somewhere on the way the error got worse, because at the moment the... -

I have a Philips 58PUS8545 which have a vertical moving lines on screen and it is flashing white vertical lines like a every 3-4 seconds.
See the attached image.
I removed left side flex-cable from the t-con and then there was half screen sharp and correct image and other half was white.
But when I removed the right side flex-cable then half of the screen was white but other half was white and above the white there was vertical lines on half of the screen.
T-con two flex-cables have been changed to cross but nothing changed, so it is not due those...1 Photo - Loading...
