Panasonic TC-P42C2 vertical bars across screen

Looking for troubleshooting help with this one: a 3 year-old Panasonic plasma that has a row of vertical bars, in alternating groups of red and green, across the entire screen (see photo attachment--note that the white box in the upper left corner is normal, it's showing the input setting).

This goes away if I turn off the set for 20 seconds or so, then turn it back on. The bars then reappears within a minute, growing in height until they reach the state shown in the photo. So, it's heat dependent. I'm thinking a capacitor or bad IC, but could use some help narrowing down the board or component. Thanks!

Either controller board or upper Y driver but since the input is over the bars....I'm going to say controller (D board)

This set is in incorporated a board. Logic and dg and dt all in one. I'm going to say a board. There seems to be a high failure rate with these new a boards lately. Anything from artifacts on the screen to flashing error codes And no startup. I would start with a little heat o. The main ic to see if its intermittent.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Thanks for the tips. Followup: how do I identify the "main IC" (biggest one?). I can also try freeze spray on the IC and check ESR of suspect caps. So the fact that an input (cable, DVD player, etc.) signal covers up the bars mean that it's the A board (upstream of the Y driver)?

            Samsung UN46C8000XFXZA vertical bars/horizontal lines
            by x_orange90_x
I posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.

The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went...

Sharp LC-70LE650U vertical black and red bars
            by ninja_zx11
            Hi all,

70" LED TV is Sharp LC-70LE650U.

Initial problem was horizontal lines and slow motion lurrs on the bottom left of the screen. So I removed both the left and right ribbon cables from the T-con board and tried to clean it with alcohol and when I put it back, this issue appeared. I tried carefully reinserting the ribbon bon cables but same thing. I checked the traces of the ribbon cables with magnifying glass and everything looks good. I cleaned the small jumper ribbon cable on the left side of the screen which cured the horizontal line and slow motion blurs...

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help NeededπŸ™
            by Daren87
            Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Samsung Plasma Intermittent Vertical Bars (repeatable) PN50B430
            by JesusJones
Trash picked this plasma for parts and found it had some bad solder joints. It powered on after reworking most of the boards and seems like it may even work.

The symptoms is, when showing a picture of bright (mostly white) intensity (within the affected area only) a vertical strip 2 3/4" wide will begin to fuzz out (just to the right of samsung logo, 16 3/8" from screen edge), and soon turns black (from top to bottom). Changing to a darker scene immediatley ater will cause the black stripe to fade back in (it fuzzes and clears up again) and it starts working just fine....

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
            by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing hereπŸ€”?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting πŸ˜‚.
