    LCD32880HDF problems

    Hi guys me again.
I have been given an Alba LCD32880HDF it turns on backlights come on, then blue screen with channel number etc, but the volume bar comes on and the volume is going down without touching any buttons, Then the screen just goes blank, but it has sound so i'm told. No source has been connected to confirm this. Do you think it may be the main board that is faulty? as the screen stays on for varying times the longest being when it is first turned on.
I have noticed that the large chip on the board does get quite warm even in such a short time.
Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Is this a model with push buttons or a touch panel for buttons?

Has the button board had anything spilled on it? I believe the buttons are at the top?

I have a 22" alba/vestel in the bedroom, also have a 19" and sold a 15", they all had buttons on top.

edit; Never mind, you answered as i was typing. 1 Finger typer here.

Is the remote anywhere in the room?

Sounds silly but might be causing the problems.

Its prob not so lets just get that out of the way first.

I always check the simple things first before anything as its them that have you over the most.

                    Re: LCD32880HDF problems

Would take a stab at the touch board myself, try removing it and cleaning the capacitive touch contacts.

Sienoki's advice is also valid as he showed me this model with a bulging cap.

right guys quick update for you after having a fiddle when i came home i found that if you turn it on with the number buttons you get this screen. It will sit there at that screen for ages no problem so im guessing it is not power supply problems or am i wrong? it will also bring up another one if you try to change channels that has an ok button on it at this screen you can adjust the volume but the menus only flash up for a second then go off again.
                            Any thoughts?

OK try both of these methods:

                              Method #1
                              TV in standby.
                              Turn TV on.
                              Press MENU on remote.
                              Press 4, 7, 2, 5 in succession.
This should bring up factory menu - select RESET option.

                              Method #2
                              TV in standby.
                              Turn TV on.
                              Press 4, 7, 2, 5 in succession.
                              Press MENU on remote.
This should bring up factory menu - select RESET option.

slight problem menus don't stay up long enough to do anything. Just flash up then disappear.

Darn must be a chassis detect problem. Would be hard to eliminate that without unplugging it but TV detects this and doesn't like it.

For Vestel just match the main board chassis part "17MB24-3" etc, the -3 is important and check the HDMI ports match.
