Help please need flat flexible 33 conductor harness

I have a Sharp Aquious lc-34 series LCD set with a bad harness connection the LCD controller and the main board. Sharp doesn't sell this part but pretty sure they are available from folks like Digi-key. I don't know the name of this cable harness material. Does anyone know what it is called or a likely TV shop that might have the exact replacement?

We really need the exact, full model number of the TV, and pictures showing the connector you are looking for, to be able to help you.

Here you go, the model number is LC-37D55U. Set is down and would like to get this part ASAP.

I couldn't find anything, and digikey would not have that.

But if I may ask, what leads you to believe the cable is bad? From the pic, it looks like it is just mis-seated (but I don't know if you just threw it in to show us location).

LC-37D5U, not 55DU as provided originally.

But if I may ask, what leads you to believe the cable is bad? From the pic, it looks like it is just mis-seated (but I don't know if you just threw it in to show us location).

You are indeed correct, the number you suggested is indeed correct.
The harness is now missing traces which were damaged during installation after taking the pictures. Before removing it for pictures, the video would intermittently be filled with noise and what appeared to be loss of sync. Just touching this harness would fix the issue so I knew it had been compromised during repair of another issue. Now there is no video with the additional damage. Thanks so much please keep looking and advise if a replacement part can be identified. Would really be happy to have one from a discarded Sharp of the same model.

The best you could do is to contact someone who has broken up this model to see if they've kept the cable.

Right, that's what I'm doing here. All of the members know so many others who own shops or who may know of a potential source. I been calling lots of shops and used parts stores. I've been getting no where ony own. Please do what you can for me.

Long shot but why not send an email and photo of item to Shopjimmy.

I haved used them twice and even spoken to someone there on the phone here from Australia. They seem very professional and helpful. They do have cable sets but I did not see anything for your model.

Worth a go.

Can you take a better shot showing what the connector labels/position is. Is there a part number on the item?

Along with that picture, show the damaged part of the connector. We might can salvage the ribbon cable - worth a shot, nothing to loose.....I just messed with one of my spare ribbon cables and it's possible.

True, I have an LG plasma with a ffc and it does not like being pulled in and out. The ends started bending up. I got a safety blade and cut it back by placing it straight and hit it through to trim of the bad stuff . used a soft cutting board and a swift tap with a hammer to punch it through. only took off just enough and is Just useable!

If you can get more info, like how many connectors, width, and pitch you may just get lucky finding a ffc on ebay or something.

The fact that this FFC or ribbon is a LVDS type it may work with varying results without shielding and I don't know how sensitive it is to the cables natural impedance (though a very minute difference)

Of course Probably explains why if that part number I found is correct it is $68.

Ya I saw that too, either way, that's crazy.
Let's try salvaging.....of course now I am curious to how that would, if any, have an effect on it ;P

Another idea would be search your model on ebay and find someone selling a main or tcon board and send them a message to see if they still have that cable. It's probably something most don't bother to sell but you may get lucky.

Just realised after all this, your title said 33 conductor, so this looks to be of no use. this one shows 30 way. Bugger.

Hey, thanks to all who had responded this far. I've tried the following so far:
Searched eBay for one of the boards that are connected with this FCC or LVSD part, called various dealers in the So Cal area who sell used parts, called Sharp and called shopjmmy, and continue to shake all the bushes.

I may have to make my own home brew 33 pin FFC from individual conductors between both board mounted connectors. I'll need to solder to each connector then add some type of Molex connector on each end of the wires soldered to each board connector. The Molex connector will terminate both of the pigtail SL that I can disconnect the two boards for future servicing.

Did want to go this route, and still don't but hopeful some may have a better idea or is able to locate the exact part.

I was in hopes of cutting the damaged ends and scrape off the insulation to expose virgin connection surfaced but I can't remove the baked on protective coating. The ends of this FFC assembly are flat not round wires , which I'm not certain I can overcome if I make my own harness

Please feel free to offer suggestions or possible sources for the original part that was never offered by Sharp as a replaceable part.

I think if you take the existing and cut it just past damaged point, then take like an exacto knife and just take your time and scrape off one side (the side that makes contact with the connector pins so it'll still be in firmly in the connector) it'll work. You cannot separate the individual wires though.
I can demonstrate if you wanted me too.
