    Vizio VO42E possible purchase

I'm thinking of picking this TV up, but I would appreciate any input of what the problem could be. T-con?

Could be t-con or main. Looks like it might be 1080p LCD, but with 720p input (perhaps wrong panel setting?)

I have asked her to make a better/bigger picture with the menu on the screen and this is what I have got from her, actually I had to double the size to be able to see something.

Yes need to see if you get the same with the on screen user manual, that will eliminate external source not sync with the video processing inside the TV.

False alarm. It was the DVD player
As a consolation, I have just picked up a Vizio GV42Lxxxx($30) with the U33 issue and it's already running.

              Re: Vizio VO42E possible purchase

The video output of the DVD player was set to 450p and the composite video output jack (Yellow RCA jack) is used instead of the RGB Video output RCA jacks, hence double images.

                Re: Vizio VO42E possible purchase

It would have been the fastest repair ever
No problem, I have other TVs to work on. Yesterday I have picked up a Samsung 40A550, with blown capacitors, waiting on the IC for the LED Sharp, need to figure out that T-con on the 52" Philips. Still have the shorted LG, a 42" dead Philips, I have picked up a 22" LG M2262D-two seconds to black, I still have that 24" Asus monitor. I have what to do.
I should work a bit on my Volkswagen Rabbit, repair damaged wheels and paint them, reinstall the stereo(wanted to install a carpc, but changed my mind for now-TVs bring money so it's priority-PC it's 80% done though), install HID lights w/relays.
I need to repair as many TVs as possible, to have some money for (minimum) down payment for a house.
Then I want to get a VW Vanagon and do a Subaru engine conversion.
By the way anybody on this forum has this kind of hobbies?

I'm thinking about putting a WRX STI engine with the Suby 5 speed trans w/reverse gears in the VW. Not a cheap project.
Here is a nice Vanagon, something like this I'm shooting for:

My favourite car project when I have the time is a full electric conversion.

I have a lot of the designs drawn up and it will cost me less than £5,000 for a full electric 30 mile vehicle which would be perfect for a daily commute using litihium-polymer model aircraft batteries for longevity and high performance (60 hp, it might not sound like much raw power, but the torque will be fantastic.)

Probably base it on a small car like a VW Golf.

That sounds an interesting project too.
30 miles in the US it's not enough, distances are much greater then in Europe.
                        !00 it sounds about right.

I used to mess around with cars, good way to go broke

The most I have paid is $125, but mostly I try to keep it way under $100.
Probably the average is around $60.
In LA, I think many people are doing the same thing as me, so there are competition out there. Sometimes we are bidding on a TV, who offers the most gets it.
Lately the selling prices have dropped too.
