    You probably have bad Y-sus and buffer boards.

    One IPM, the one closest to the coils, does energy recovery. Makes the plasma driving more efficient.

    The other IPM sustains the panel, the major part in making it light up.

    resureccting old thread but i have same tv and positive its y-sus, my tv powers on fine plays sound but the screen flashes on and off with ipm on y-sus clicking away. what do the 2 ipms on y-sus do exactly. one of them is humming like the ipm's on the zsus. when the screen flashes i dont see a picture or menu picture its just white noise or white and grey thin lines. i have tried with buffers disconnected as well. the tv didnt have any bad fuses the psu caps were all good and it will play a whole movie like this without shutting down. i did use the -vy vsc test points and voltages are all over the place with the clicking. these boards are pricey so i would like to repair it instead of replace but at $40 a ipm not sure if its economical lol

    Hi there. Yes they are ! But make sure to use the good ones..

    here's a quick x-ref i've done by searching a little, it should be right !

    yppdj014 = STK795-811
    yppdj015 = SPI-50X3E240
    yppdj016 = SPI-50X3E120
    yppdj017 = STK795-821 STK795-820
    yppdj018 = STK795-821 STK795-820
    yppdj019 = ???
    yppdj023 = ???

    cheebster (or anyone else), did you ever figure out if the LG IPM's are compatible with the sanyo ones? jo15b,jo15c,jo15e, jo16b,jo16c,jo16e etc?

    Thanks!

    Yes. But reading that article, it seems that the failed SMD radial silver ones that arent failed but just, old, could be the culprit of the IPM failure. Im digging a little deeper, because those fixed plasmas i got here are for my friends and i dont want them to come back. im selling them for cheap but still, i want the repairs to be reliable...

    if its just a few caps more to replace, ill do them without thinking twice

    A scope is a more handy thing to use, so save up for that first IMO.
    I find very few electrolytics (maybe two in total) that have failed without bulging.

    AH ! Thanks tom66. I was wondering if i should replace them, or at least check all of them for a proper ESR value.

    I don't have a esr meter, but i could buy one if it's handy to have..

    The SMD caps he probably refers to are the round radial silver can ones. Which have a valued printed on them. They are electrolytics.

    I have another issue. Again.. from digging a little deeper in the old internets, ive found this interesting post.. on videokarma

    http://www.videokarma.org/showpost.p...9&postcount=14

    From what this guy says, its a good thing to check the YSUS at R61 (that's the testpoint) to check +18V on the ipm. And if it's off, it means trouble..

    Well mine is at 16.2 vdc right now. I don't have access to a remote (come from china, faster!!!) to get into the service menu and access that white wash, but for now, the voltage is off on the 18V on the ipm's.

    So something else is causing the death of the ipm's on that board, he says faulty caps, could be SMD... argh

    How is it possible to find leaky SMD caps if we don't know the value, since there's no service manual that cover component level for the y-sus ?

    anyone knows what causes a thin vertical line from to to bottom of display ? its very thin, about 1 pixel wide, and it doesnt appear on blacks only on colors. if i run an anamorphic movie with a black bar on top and bottom, the line isnt there.. its just on colors !

    could it be a flat cable on one buffer that needs some cleaning ? just thinking out loud.. its a very thin line, but its still annoying

    you're pushing me to buy one eh ? heehe just kidding...

    but what im wondering is, will i use it enough to justify that 400$ expense..

    is there a way to test an xtal ? // with a multimeter.. for now ?

    If the xtal died the first time, maybe also the second time.
    You would need a scope to check though :/.

    it's the video input board that's giving me trouble. a swap with one from the other tv and results are good, using all the same cable. aaah another trouble again !

    i guess that one, you just replace it right ? i cant tell by checking the board what could be causing it.. ram chips maybe, idk. i see one xtal has been replaced already..

    Ah, I see it now.

    I would suspect that you have a dodgy LVDS cable!

    If it's not that I'd look at the buffers though it looks too "good" to be a buffer fault to me. Usually buffer fault causes sparkling random stuck pixels or pixel noise. Either way, it's not the Y-sus, Z-sus, or any of the drive voltages.

    Sorry for not being clear. It's hard to describe, it's like if the picture was working but the video was in 5fps instead of 5fps. it struggles on fast moving pictures and at the bottom i see a kind of doubling of the image

    here's a video, you cant see the slow refresh since its a video of a video, but you see that doubling weirdo bug at the bottom of the screen a few times !

    here's the video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKHUlenj3CE

    if you watch it completely you'll see what i mean.. video is slow and buggy

    thanks !!!!

    MSI Z370-A Pro, works but does not power off or reboot and USB issues
    by gretti
    I have a MSI Z370-A Pro. The board does not reboot or shut down from the Windows recovery console. USB communications stop and the status light on USB 1 stays on and does not blink. I have programmed a new BIOS with a CH341A programmer already, swapped RAM, PSU, CPU. The board will power off when the power button is held and resets when the reset switch is pressed, but it will not react to the reset switch if already told by software to shut down or restart. The board will reboot from BIOS after a save and exit command.

    The MSI BIOS included the ME firmware for the board. The size...

    LG 60PV450 Possible Bad YSUS Need help confirming Diagnosis
    by PlasMatt
    I have an LG plasma that after reading through a bunch of posts and doing some testing I believe has a bad YSUS board. The problem is that that doesn't make sense to me for some of the symptoms. The problem started yesterday. While watching a movie the TV just shut down like I pressed power. I have it hooked to a PC and use RS232 to turn it off and on so I thought maybe something had glitched there. I turned it back on and finished the movie with no problems. The same thing happened today so I checked logs to see if something in the control glitched and sent an off command but it didn't, After...

    Samsung PN59D6500 Plasma TV issues
    by Burglicious
    Hey all, i have a Samsung PN59D6500 that I rescued from the dumpster and I'm trying to fix it. So the issue I am having is that the TV isnt turning on at all. I have VS,VA,VSC,VE at all the appropriate voltages. I have 3.3V at the PS-On, and 5V also. Whats happening is when i press the power button on the remote the TV has has the relays click, some pixels flash on the screen and then it seems to turn off. It repeats this until the TV is unplugged. I know that the Mainboard has a problematic EEPROM but this seems kinda like a power regulation issue. Anyone have any ideas?

    Pioneer Kuro Pro 111FD 8 blink red LED.

    I have been trying to solve the power-down 8-blink red LED problem with my Pioneer.

    So far I have replaced the power supply board, and the digital assembly board, I have reconnected the ribbons to all boards, ensuring the connections are good. Even though the problem is the 8 red light error and not the more common 8 blue light error code, I had Kcrownie,
    based in North Carolina replace the chips that cause the 8 blue LED problem (the main board and audio board) the plasma is still powering...

    Hi, trying to troubleshoot some problems with this laptop I just finished repairing which had power issues (Burnt Buck converter - SY8883DFC shorted to ground).

    After repairing the above issue, I realized the following remaining problem,
    Sound only comes from bottom speakers, top palmrest speakers don't work. Neither does the headphone jack (static/buzzing).
    The computer recognizes headphones are connected and displays a popup in windows
    Sometimes, the computer will boot up and the sound will be working fine. However, if I run intensive programs and the computer...
