    Sharp LC-52D64U-Negative picture

Had this tv for about 3 years and it developed this "Negative Picture" like a photo negative. Sound on this set works fine, negative picture is on all inputs. Did a reset from diagnostic screen(Volume down+Input>Connect power etc.....) same result. Found a video on Youtube(2 years old, fix in comments- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEfa-...eature=related ) featuring a Samsung LCD with the similar issue and took the tv apart found the said board to be insulated from touching any metal so the problem wasn't there. Found this thread( http://www.avsforum.com/t/1170984/so...d/forumId/166# ) with a Sony Bravia, similar issue and their end result was the T-Con board. Swapped the T-Con with another from Shop Jimmy, same problem. Found a few other threads saying it was the Main bd(would be my next move unless I can get some better advice here). Just looking for some useful help without having to spend an outrageous amount of money to fix this tv ~Aloha~

Have you tried these steps? They apply for LC-32SD1E but may be similar enough:

I would have suggested T-con. The only board left that could cause this is the main board. Although are the power supply voltages good? What does the T-con run off?

Just popped in a T-Con fresh from Shop Jimmy and no change in problem. The odds on it being bad too and producing the same issue is.........I'm no tech, so not sure.

            Re: Sharp LC-52D64U-Negative picture

It's possible, though unlikely. The T-cons on shopjimmy are reclaimed from cracked screen TVs so could be faulty.

Any other vendor worth trusting for a T-Con? "New other (see details)" runs around $50 US....USED $20-$30. Which route would you take for another T-Con

ShopJimmy have a warranty, don't they? Ask if you can exchange it as you suspect it's faulty.

sent them a message about an exchange, so I'll need to wait and see what their response is. But I hope someone can recall anyone else having the same type of picture problem I have and what the remedy was......hopefully not a bad panel.

                      Re: Sharp LC-52D64U-Negative picture

Contacted ShopJimmy about their T-Con board(discoloration and cracks can be seen in their advertised pics, if you zoom in) and they gladly exchanged it for another. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, same discolration on the new board but not as bad no cracks. Same negative image result. My guess that the T-Con board is not the issue. Has anyone seen or heard about the symptoms that my TV is having??? Suggestions on any test to try???

As tom66 said, it's either between the t-con or main. Since main processes video signal I would go for that.

@tom66 or anyone who can help......

Replaced main board and symptoms changed. Connected the power and I get 2 clicks. TV doesn't fire up. Green OPC and Power lights flash together once then the green Power light flashes once by itself then repeats. Thanks.

Make sure everything is seated correctly. Does the new main board match the old one (i.e part number not just board number)

OK, I did a "force power on" Hold channel down+Hold volume up and then connect the power cord. TV fired up but negative image issue resumes. Any ideas?

New board is an exact match with the old one(only 2 types for this model). I put the old board back in and the TV fired up normally(with negetive image) Put the new board in again same clicking no power, did the force power on and the TV fired up with the negative images. Probably could get the TV to fire up with the new board if I clear the error codes in the diagnostic mode. But got the kids running around right now so it'll need to wait. Any Ideas?

This is a long shot, but LVDS cable. You could test continuity between each connector to see if the problem is "prevention of data" lol. Or altering thereof.

Or could be those boards on the side of the panel.....but this is seeming more likely.

Actually, that may be hard to do, well there's a cable kit on ebay for $25

Also, what T-CON is in it, the old or new?

Oh and out of curiosity what happens when you turn monochrome on under the settings?

T-Con #3(2nd one from ShopJimmy)is in there LOL. Monochrome doesn't do much but remove whatever color is left in the negative image
