    LG 47LC7DF no power

    I have this nice LG TV last week during a thunder storm it stopped working. No lights or anything are working on it.

    Do these things have power supplies that might be out? I can repair computers and other electronics and would like to repair this unit myself.

    If you are lucky, maybe just the fuse is blown and protected the other components.

        OK finally got time, I opened the back panel and examined every single cap and they all seem intact. I found a fuse on the large board which the AC connecter connects to.
        Is this the fuse you were talking about? I can't seem to find any other fuses.

          That will be the first fuse to check. Make sure to unplug the TV first, the resistance reading should be less than one Ohm.

                  Resistance rading on what? I have a regular tester it has x10 ohm and x1k ohm when I tested the fuse with it the needle flies all the way to the right.

                    post a picture of your meter. I am assuming its an analog meter since you used the term "needle".

                        The multimeter photo is so bad and out of focus, I can't see the scale. No retiredcaps bonus point.

                            If your needle swings towards 0 ohms, then it is a good fuse.

                            The next step is to measure DC voltage on all your cable connectors on the power board.

                            If there is a legend on the connector, list it like so

                            CN100 -> connector
                            pin 1 says 5V SB - I get 4.99 V
                            pin 2 says 12V - I get 12.0V

                            PS. The 5V SB is 5V standby. It is required so the main board works properly.

                              Thanks, any chance you can show me on the picture I posted what you mean by all cable connectors?
                              Can you link me a turtorial on how to take such measurements?

                                Did I lose you guys? I am just curious why you wanted the pictures of the boards but never commented on them?

                                I spent 2 hours examining the board yesterday and I do not see any problems with any capacitors. I do not believe the problem is with the power board.

                                  the reason we ask for pics,is beacause someone might see something wrong that the person trying to fix the tv cant,although i struggle trying to get really decent pics up myself
                                  fixed so far...376 lg lcd tv's,24 onn tv;s,24 panasonic lcd,16 jvc lcd,12 marshall jcm800 amps,refurb of various disco equipment lighting,old style disco decks ,and a flymo!

                                  please let us know if everything works ok if your tv gets fixed, as it will be and aid for anyone else having the same problem and wishing to fix it.it would save people clogging up this site with topics that are duplicated,and can be found easily using the search function.,and taking up valuable space.enjoy your fixed tv!,hopefully!

                                    I think my pictures came out pretty clear. I can try and take better ones and repost them.
                                    Right now I am stuck, I really want to repair this TV myself but I am finding very limited information and I am not sure how to test the power connectors.

                                      Here is a picture of your power supply i saved from shop jimmy. I put a red square around the connector legend. What we need you to do is plug the tv in and see if what voltages you have (if any). Post you results like retired caps explained in post #14

                                        There is a legend. I am using the same multimeter in my other picture. I am touching the black rod to the GND and the red rod to the other pins but getting no readings. With the TV plugged in.
