    Vizio VA370M

I have received a Visio VA370M that is in partially working condition. Its symptoms were that it would take a long time to load past the logo and then it would work for awhile before glitching/freezing up and have to be unplugged. Then you would have to wait awhile before it could turn on again. Also audio worked through external speakers but not internal.

The previous owner tracked down two bad caps and removed them, but never got around to replacing them. Then the bad caps got lost along with what model/specs they were. So my question is does anyone know what caps I can use to replace the missing caps? I pulled an image of a board from ebay that had them to show which ones it is, so please take a look at the image. Thanks for the help!

Ok, so I was able to get some capacitors and get them soldered in place. Now I am able to get the TV to turn on and display the Vizio logo, but it just sits on the logo. I can turn it on or off using the remote or the panel at anytime, but that is it. I see no more bad caps anywhere. What should I check or what pictures should I upload.

        1) Post clear focused top down pictures of all your boards following my sig file below exactly. We want the picture compositions like so

        https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...94&postcount=1

        2) Many Vizios have failing or failed voltage regulators on the main board. I would test them all to verify they are okay.
        --- begin sig file ---

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

        --- end sig file ---

What caps did you use? The top right corner one(in your pic) is a 680uf. and I believe the other one is 35v. I think that are both the same judging by the size.

Okay, so I was finally able to get images of the boards. They are below. As for the capacitors I was able to track down that they are 1000uf 35v. As for the exact specs I was unable to get a clear answer, so if anyone has an exact board please feel free to tell me manufacturer, model, etc.

Forgot to mention in image 1279, the back of the main board, to the right of the image there is the backside of one of the header connectors. The top left pin has solder on it that connects it to the pin located below it. Is this normal? It didnt seem normal to me but didn't want to make any changes without asking first.

As I said the cap in the corner is 680 on other boards I have seen (1000 should be ok though)
Solder Blob - I dont think it will make a difference whether it there or not. Pictures are not quite clear enough but looks like both pins are for 24v?
Does the on screen menu come on? is there any volume? Have you got a source
perhaps try with a dvd player. It may be stuck looking for whatever source it last had
so try as many as you can. Some Tvs will reset if you hold in the power button whilst plugging it in?.
Have you started looking at the voltage regulators as retiredcaps suggested
Check any fuses you can find and post results in ohms.
                Try for clearer pictures

This is the connector between the main board and T-con. Don't see it labeled at all. Have to find my meter to see what it is.

The Television turns on, but only shows the Vizio logo, nothing else. No on-screen menu. I have tried connecting multiple sources. Composite, VGA, Cable. Still nothing.

I am going to go look for my meter right now. May need help checking these correctly.

Here are some more images of the board layout and the specific connector in question. I found my meter, but unfortunately after moving recently it appears to have not made the trip successfully, so I will be picking up a new one.

Ok when you have a meter check the pins - cant really tell from the pics if it bridges or not. If it looks like a splash remove it - if it looks like its always been there leave it
or remove it and try it and if no difference re solder it.

Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

Vizio V555-G1 stuck on wallpaper; now stuck on V logo
                            by x_orange90_x
I just got this tv today and it's getting stuck on the wallpaper. When I first power it on it goes to the V logo, then a black screen for about 15 seconds, then a Chromecast error for just a few seconds, and then finally to a wallpaper. It stays frozen on this wallpaper and does not respond to anything on the remote besides power on/off. Likewise the buttons on the tv do nothing either (besides power). I did the "reset" by holding the volume down and input buttons together for 10 seconds. It showed a message at the top of the screen saying it was Wiping Data and would restart soon. After...

Vizio D32f-E1 Powers on, has backlight, won't boot/no logo, no menu or video
                            by JaquesPratt
I have a Vizio D32f-E1 LCD TV that does NOT have a TCON board.

This TV recently went through some 'death throes' and now won't boot. The first problem that began to manifest was while watching tv, the screen would 'freeze', and the image would dim over a few seconds until it was very dark. HOWEVER, the audio of the show would continue as normal. I could power off the TV for 5-20 seconds, power back on, and the video would be normal. This would occur 1-3 times when the TV was first started, and would not happen again after the TV was 'warmed up'. Not ideal, but this glitch was manageable....

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                            Assuming...

The TV stuck at logo and cannot be turned off unless the cord is unplugged.
I was given two main boards and exactly the the same thing happens to both of them.
I have checked all voltages on the connector on the power board that goes into the main board and they all look OK.
There are no signs of damage on any of the 3 boards.

Would someone help me with a pointer to the manual? It's supposedly to be the same as E601i-A3.

                            Thanks!
