Re: Taking apart a gv42l and troubleshooting

Now I am beginning to see the later model of VIZIO with bad EEPROM in the TV threads, that is more difficult to troubleshoot to find out if it is firmware or hardware problem.

Re: Taking apart a gv42l and troubleshooting

I remember seeing Vizio TVs at my local Costco about 2.5 years ago. What caught my attention was the box proudly said "Designed in the USA".

I wonder if Costco is now regretting carrying Vizio with all the problems with their generous warranty.

The terminal may be removable if you can see the exposed locking pin on the other side of the body.

Re: Taking apart a gv42l and troubleshooting

Not easily, I fixed them by removing the terminals, spread the crimped section and solder the wire to the terminal. Or you can solder the wires directly to the board.

Service manual has a Bill of Materials. Look through the drawings to see what the part number is and maybe you can order a replacement or find equivalent on ebay or digikey.com

Use Chrome or IE with adblocks disabled, wait 60 seconds and the "Get Manual" should appear

                  Look for

Thank you guys so much. I've probably been a bit of a pain but after all this I've learned a lot. I even found replacement cables. All I had to do was think outside of the box and get proprietary cables from a vizio set. Ebay worked wonders. I'll probably buy more broken tvs and have a hand at it. Of this same model.
